Which lures?
Well the places that I fish don't have a ton of band structure. Alot of slop and some deep rock structure. I know it sounds simple but my confidence lure is a hula grup rigged on a 1/4 oz. standup jighead. Other than that I am pretty good at fishing with my x-raps and floater, and I also do pretty good with buzzbaits and Spooks.

Which lures?
I know this a really lame thread but the bait monkey is killing me and I have a 20 dollar bill that is burning a hole in my pocket. I have never done any type of flipping, but I have been practicing in my backyard and I really think I could get into it this season. Should I buy a bunch of flipping jigs? If so what is a good flipping jig? I have heard good things about SK but was wondering about Jungle Jigs since they have them on sail at the Gander near my house. What about KaRu jigs? I have never done much crankin so I was thinking about getting a few new crankbaits to broaden my collection. I really want to try some Mattlures baby bass. Are the Spro frogs pretty good? I know this is a long boring post but I am looking to blow my 2007 season out of the water and be really successful this year, plus a have a boat now so I am really excited! Let me know what you guys think.

What's the Skinny on Swimbaits?
Not meaning to hijack your thread, but would it be stupid to even consider throwing 6"+ swimbaits for lmb here in Northern Illinois?

- Which Boat?
Here is what I ended up with! And very happy to end up with! It's a '00 Mirrocraft 14' with an '02 Yamaha 15 hp 4 stroke. It has a 30lb. thrust Minnkota and a humminbird locater on it. Keep in mind this all came in the package. It also has a deck thats built on the bow and the bottom of the boat is carpeted. Tell me what you guys think! I can't wait for the ice to melt here!- Which Boat?
Sorry Brat, I don't know very much about the boat right now. But I'm thinking that boat is too small anyways. What are some things I should look for in a bass boat, casting deck? livewell? I am thinking about getting a mod v jon type boat like the Lowe roughneck models.- Which Boat?
What is good sized motor to go with? I have a chance at getting a 12ft. vee bottom with a good running 9.9 Johson on it for a good price. I would have to put a deck on it though because I cant stand sitting down and fishing. Does this boat sound like a good deal?- Are your tackle boxes ready for opener?
I'm getting there. Just need a few more stand up jigheads, and maybe a few more jerkbaits, some hornytoads or ragetails, and some finesse worms! Spool up my spinning reels and I'm ready to go!- Which Boat?
I am not new to bass fishing by any means, but I am new to boating. My question is, I'm looking to get a decent jon boat or an old bass boat. What length jon boats are good and what do I want to look for in a beam? I have about $3,000 to work with. I'm also wondering if its worth to get a used small bass tracker style boat or get a new v-bottom or jon boat? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!- slight problem any help?
If you don't have any problems with overhanging trees where you wade then I would suggest using a backpack or a hydration pack to put your spare rod into. I just bought a hydration pack at wallmart. It is just like a backpack but a lot smaller and more comfortable, and I can fit 3 rods in it perfectly!- sunfish swimbait
Not meaning to hijack your thread but does anyone have anything good to say about Optimum Swimbaits?- question about x rap
I have caught many fish with the gold 8's. I've never been man enough to try the 10's. :-[- Rod Transportation?
One more question islandbass. Is that pvc pipe on the bottom that is holding the rod butts?- Rod Transportation?
Hey islandbass, Great ingenuity there! I made something similar to that last year but mine had some plastic parts so it wasn't very durable. I could make the same thing you could with some plywood and some dowels right? I like the velcro you put on there to secure your rods. ;D I think that I will either make one like that or buy a Tote um pole. The tote um pole can hold quite a few rods and has a shoulder strap. The price isn't bad either. Great ideas and advice everybody! Thanks- Rod Transportation?
Great Idea with the backpack! I think I will have to give that a try.- Rod Transportation?
I just like to have several fishing rods with me because I like the different actions. For Example: For jerkbaits I usually use a spinning rod but I like on that has a nice moderate power throughout the rod. Finesse fishing I like a spinning rod that has a little more backbone. For throwing jigs I like to use a medium heavy baitcasting rod. For spinners and popper I like a medium baitcasting rod.- Rod Transportation?
I don't have a boat to fish out of yet so I fish a lot of my local lakes on the bank. I usually carry 3 or 4 rods with me when I'm out. Last year I just bundled them all up and put a garbage bag around the reels because I hate to lay expensive equipment down on the dirt. I'm always on the move when I'm fishing on the banks. Do any of you have the same problem? What is the best way to keep my rods protected while I lay them down and when I'm on the move? Rod Bags ,Rod totes? Has anyone used any of these products?- New Rod?
Good Idea! I may have to get one, but I don't do much crankin'.- New Rod?
Ok here's the deal. I have a chance to get a good deal on some rods and I'm wondering what Rod I should get. Here is the list of the rods that I have already: Shimano Clarus casting rod, 6'6 Med. power, extra fast action. St. Croix Triumph casting rod, 7' MH power/fast. No name casting rod, 6' no specific power or action, works good for spinners. Spinning Rods: Rapala Long cast 6'6, med/light Rapala sportsmans 6' med Now the question is do I go for a new spinning rod or a new casting rod?- Topwater Poppers
Rebel Pop-R. Can't even imagine how many bass I have caught on that popper. I have had the same bass colored popper for many years and the lure never ceases to amaze me. - Which Boat?
