Want A New Reel And Need Help
get a pflueger president for $60. use 8lb trilene xl and you'll be fine for most applications. or get yo-zuri hybrid ultra-soft in 6lb (almost 11lb break point) and use some KVD line conditioner and you'll be good to go

Compre....best $100 Rod?
ok... i need some help... (just ask my wife) i'm looking to step outside my comfort zone (spinning reels only) and get my first baitcast setup. i will be using it for all around i suppose. i don't do much pitching, so mainly cranking, spinnerbait and some deep cranks (14ft or so) i see the Compre at TW is $20 off. is this my best deal at $80?

7.1 Gear Ratio...too Fast??
i kinda thought the 7.1 might not be best for what i'm looking to use it for. so, i'd be better off with a 6.4. correct? one of the guys in my club has a KVD for $50 that is a 6.4. a better fit? and an ok deal?

7.1 Gear Ratio...too Fast??
is a 7.1 ratio too fast for general cranking?? deep diving cranks, reg cranks and spinnerbaits??? i'm looking to pick up a reel for general cranking use. i have a chance to pick up a 2009 Revo SX for about $100 but it is a 7.1... any input/advice is appreciated.. thanks

Yum Dancin Eel
i have to admit... i bought one about 4 years ago.... thrown it twice maybe..it looks good but i would rather throw other cranks, etc. i wish i could fish in the places Bill Dance does... seems like he could throw a helicoptor lure and catch'em..

New To Fishing ..help Me With A Lure
Get a small lucky craft sammy or a zell-pop or something less expensive will work fine for just starting out.. like a Rebel Pop-R, Jitterbug or a small buzzbait. i too think a wacky rigged senko type worm will do wonders, or a curly tail tail worm like a Zoom u-tail or Berkley 7" powerworm. and a spinnerbait as mentioned. good luck.. let us know how you do when you get back out..

Weedless Wacky Rig
there are a few weedless wacky hooks to choose from. if you are limited in what you can find..just about any weedless hook will work ok. i recommend either 1/0 or 2/0 size max. wacky rigged 4" worms do not limit you to small fish.

Spinnerbait Question
so the trailer goes on the trailer hook?? wow....do i feel like a big dummy... is that a mr. obvious??
-
Spinnerbait Question
i've used trailers. and i've used trailer hooks. but whenever i try to use them together the trailer always seems to get fouled on the trailer hook.. i add the trailer. then add the trailer hook. is there a "trick" to rigging that i'm missing. i usually use a small curly tail worm or i cut the end off a used up double tail hula grub (i like the curly tails action) rather than use a double straight tail trailer. is that my problem?? thanks...
-
whats your favorite rig and hook size for ...
A 4" hula grub needs a hook a lot smaller than 3/0. i agree. i throw these a lot. i use either a 1/0 or 2/0 gamakatsu ewg. 1/0 seems to work best for me. since i fish from the bank a lot, i fish them weightless (less hang ups) or with as little weight as possible..either 1/8 or 1/4oz

ever dipped a jig in JJ's?
ok, maybe this is a dumb question... :-? but here i go.. anyone ever dipped the ends of a jig in JJ's? :-/ i know dipping the trailer in...makes sense.. but what if you're using a trailer that already has scent like a chigger craw or a paca chuck...and you don't want/need to dip them. just wondering if anyone has ever actually dipped the tips of a jig?? would it disintegrate the jig fibers?? or just give my tackle bag a nice JJ odor?

Chompers Twin Tail Grub

luhr jensen speed trap vs reg. lipless
thanks.. i'll probably throw a spinnerbait, chatterbait, and a lippless one knocker as previously suggested as well as the speed trap. maybe a DT Flat or a Spro little john md. and if he's kickin' my butt..... i'll tie on what he's usin' 8-)

luhr jensen speed trap vs reg. lipless
anyone had much experience/luck with the speedtrap? as a follow up to another post... would it be a good alternative to throw as a co-angler if my boater is throwin a lipless... from the description it says it can be worked pretty fast too.
-
what would you throw?? help..
thanks guys... i appreciate your input..

what would you throw?? help..
my club's 1st tourney of the year is next weekend. water temp will still be pretty cool. i am the co-angler.. my boater plans on "covering a lot of water with a lipless crankbait" what would you recommend i throw? i'm thinking maybe a lipless also and a spinnerbait :-/ i would like for him to slow down to use a suspending jerkbait... but he usually fishes too fast for that :'( he said he "may slow down" and jig fish some too. he's won our club 4 out of the past 5 years, so i'm kinda at his mercy.... appreciate any ideas/suggestions
