Went out night fishing last night for the first time
730pm-1230am Good times Buddy caught a 4lber on his 2nd cast (not good) he ended up with 4 total slow night They were out as they were coming up on the surface but not biting much. Finally around 11pm as I've caught nothing my buddy was saying he was really upset I wasn't able to get a fish. I told him, not a big deal...just glad to be out here. 2 casts later BOOM.... Senko brings me in a nice 3.5lber (nice for me) Night fishing is def different, and was hard as there was no moonlight so it was dark as nuts. We did have headlamps and flashlights. Good times

OK I can catch plenty of 3-5lbers how to make the move to the big ones??
It was a stfu moment, however he handled it like a true pro, and the doubter did to. Good people, great site. Awesome pictures sir. You look like a true fisherman

You are a noob and you are in need of gear
I think I will just start with a spinning reel as one stated, better off getting something that will last and be durable. My fishing buddy usually brings 8 or so rods. Four set for me with plastics, and spinners mostly, all on Spinning reels, he uses bait casters mainly for himself. He's a great fisher and knows his stuff. The only problem all the talk about rods/reels/and bait/technique is toooooo much to take in, all in 5 or so fishing trips especially as he's talking alot. Like I know all about I don't understand a jig is! First time really fishing was this year (other than once as a youngin and never caught a thing) I've always been into sports, not golf or fishing. I never thought much of either , I recently looked in the mirror and said "son, you need to get out and get yourself a hobby" Ya can't sit around the house and go to work for a living, it gets boring. Once I went out, before I even threw my first cast it was love at first sight, and it's just escalated from there. Why did I choose to get into this as I get married and have 2 year old :

You are a noob and you are in need of gear
awesome stuff guys Thinking of starting out with 2 rod and reels (one spinner and one baitcast). If I were to set a limit of 2-$300 for the two combos ,do you guys think it's attainable? I don't need the best, but I also am a man that prefers some quality. I come from the school of "you get what you pay for" However under the circumstances like I said I don't need a 3-$500 +rod/ reel. My friend was telling me it's always good to get last years model when the newer ones come out because they discount them . Any link suggestions would that some have trust in (brand or models would be great) BTW I have smaller fat hands so I like a grip and reel a little on the small size

Newbie from Mass
Just picked up bass fishing and cannot get it off my mind. My friend is a die hard and has more equipment than he knows what to do with, so before I take the plunge and start investing I have been using his for this season so far. he doesn't care as he seems to enjoy me as his fishing buddy. I'm a total noob but am here to learn. Bass fishing is the most exciting thing in my life and I've never felt this way about ANYTHING before. We have done small river, small pond fishing only. Sucky part due the poor economy and having a family to feed and health issues with children. (one had a stroke and my wife lost her 2nd at 6 months (surgery) I'm one broke wretched. Bad time to get into a costly sport. I figure I'll pick up tackle, and just keep going from there. Slow and steady and just load up this winter. Great board BTW!
