If you are fishing water that is stained, is it really necessary to use a FC leader? I have always fish straight braid and vary rarely fish clear water (nothing more that 2 foot clarity for the most part). By the way, thanks for all the input, your information is awesome guys/gals.

First of all I think I like Rich Rod in AA! Thanks for the post. Just curious, what weight do you use when TRing? I normally start out with a 1/8oz sinker, but will up size to a 1/4oz or 3/8oz depending on he amount of wind. The key is to stay in contact with the bait. Toss it out and let it drop all the way to bottom. When you pick up on the line, you should be able to just feel the bait. Who knows you may actually become a better angler by following the great advice you got here. That long face is probably because that deep slow fishing can seem a little boring compared to pounding docks. Dock fishing always seems to require some goofy sidearmed cast into an impossibly tight spot. A good cast, even when it doesn't produce a fish is still a miniature victory of sorts. But in the long run, the real victory that counts in tournament fishing, takes place at the weigh-in which is where deep fishing seems to get you there more often than the dock pattern. BTW, would this be a good place to make a confession to Sparty? That Lund parked in my garage is...... GREEN! Been fishing in a club this year for the first time. I usually fish shallow like docks, down trees, stumps, mostly because I have never felt comfortable fishing deep water. This year in our club it seems that the biggest bass have been caught from 10+. Now I know that weather, pressure and activity on the water all contribute to the fishes actions but do you fish shallow or deep? Or do you tend to change as the year goes on??

Anyone have one? Was thinking of getting one. It is either that or the Curado. Can get the Revo for 40 less than the Curado but do not want the $$ to be the only reson to get or not get one over the other unless they are basically the same reel.

I am new to fluorocarbon line. I spooled a Quantum Energy PT IV with 17lb line. I have a Quantum Superlite 7'3" rod with it. I originally bought it for throwing swmbaits but it is a good set up for jigs as well as it is a MH/F rod. However, when I use it with jigs I get the line to not birds nest but it loosens on the reel and does not remain tight. I like braided line and was thinking of switching to braid. Am I just doing something wrong here? When I throw it with a swimbait I do fine. I have played with the break and spool for the best settings. Do I just not have the line spooled tight enough?

I think I have decided on the Symetre or the CI4. Question is, is the CI4 worth the extra $$? I have looked at both and the CI4 is one lite motha. Not crazy about the handle though and for the $$ you would think you would get an extra spool??

Hello all, new to the forum. I am looking to get a new spinning reel to go along with a Powell Max 703. I will be using it for jigs, tubes and worms. I own mostly baitcasters and a few Gander Mountain spinning reels. What reel would you suggest for my type of use. I have looked at the Shimano Symetre, Pflueger Magnesium and Quantum Kinetic. I am not locked down on any specific price but do not want to break the bank. Your opinions are all welcome. Thanks for the help.
