I recently purchased an older 6' 10 " all star pro series rod for worms and jigs, but the handle is longer than my flipping rod. What would I have to do to remove the cork and reel seat, then do a split grip like the ones in the picture below on the right side?(Boil in water) Also, in its stock form, the reel does not have a blank through reel seat. I have ordered a new reel seat, but I am looking at a supplier for the split grips. I also have not decided on the foregrip, I might build an "epoxy ramp" Any Ideas

Has anyone ever tried to make a home-mad version. I am not paying $80 from BPS.
