  1. Don't quite own the yak yet - still trying to convince my better half that's it worth it and I need it (i offered to buy her and the little guy in profile pic a canoe - she doesn't like me casting in the boat next to her - she is afraid I am going to hook her. I have only ever hooked my brother, when we were little and on a pier). If I get one i will definitely be making my own. Looking at a Wilderness Ride 135 tonight.
  2. Zamboni - was lake frozen over and needing a clean top layer of ice Just messing with you .. I have only ever caught one trout and it was only 10". nice catch. I still have to wait for the lakes to to thaw here but I am going to go look at a fishing kayak tonight
  3. I have decided to save money by building my own tackle this year and being sure to use up what I have (except for Watermelon Red Flake Trick Sticks - always running out of those). The only thing the bait monkey will probably get me for this year is a new baitcasting rod and real for cranking.
  4. Hey all, I am looking for a club in or around Rockford, IL that has either a non-boating division or someone who is looking for a partner for the upcoming season. I have limited tourney experience but am an enthusiastic fisherman and fierce competitor. Please send a PM if you know of anything.
  5. I am in Rockford, IL and the Gander here is just all around horrible. Fishing section is similar to the one mentioned from Lafayette, only a few short rows. It's really the only place in town to get any sort of tackle on short notice though. Outdoor recreation is not a hugely popular thing here (I am from Wisconsin and most gas stations carry a decent selection of tackle). I order online for tackle almost exclusively now unless I am in Gurnee, IL and can go to BPS.
  6. Just thought I would introduce myself. 23 year old angler in Rockford, IL currently. Getting the winter blues as temps hit single digits tonight and looking to create enough lures for an all custom tackle bag in the spring (new to lure making but excited for it). Looking to gain some knowledge and have some friendly discussion here. Regards, Justin
