  1. Some of us do not have Academy.
  2. Nice, picking up a used Battle 3000 for a good deal tomorrow. I have to keep my salt tackle gear up to snuff too lol. I have success with DOA stuff when it comes to the inshore fish, hell even bass will bite DOA shrimp. Good luck on your trip!
  3. I just bought a Lew's Tournament Pro, I have not tested it yet. I decided on it after it took me awhile to even find a review that was not great, and that review just said it was comparable to the REVOs. My Brother has a Curado 201E7 which I have used quite a lot and it is a solid reel. I am trying Lew's out. I have an Abu Garcia Ambassadeur which I have never had a problem with but that does not seem to be what you are looking for. My brother's Curado has been great and I have a ton of Shimano spinners and they are great. If you want proven reliability go Shimano but you will pay for it.
  4. I just bought the Powell Endurance 723. I think it will be enough for the cover I will throw it in.
  5. So the heaviest jigs I will through with this will probably be a 3/4 oz. MH or H?
  6. Well now, I have a Ambassadeur T6600CL on a $40 BPS Graphite 7' MH/Fast, lure weight 3/8 - 1 1/2, line weight 10-20lb. It is my default cranking setup as I just threw together what I had. I have caught fish with it but I feel these rods will be better? I really do not care too much about the weight as I am still in my 20's. Would these S-Glass rods be a better fit for crankbaits with the Ambassadeur?
  7. Yeah I have found that slowing things down to a crawl will finally get one to bite.
  8. It matters if I am fishing with a beer or not. If so then it will be classic rock or late 80's to early 90's country.
  9. Ok, I am liking that endurance. The only problem is I can get the *** Black for $75 which is a good deal. But then the Endurance is $60 off. Decisions.
  10. I think a 1/2 oz. jig and a 1 oz. spinner might be the most I throw on it. By the end of this summer I will get a pitching/flipping/punching setup with a heavy rod.
  11. Yeah I am looking for an all around rod minus slow crankbait and swimbaits. I am not new to bass fishing. Been doing it since I remember but all the different preferences and abilities of different rods are new to me. Thats why I need some help. I too will be starting out not on a boat much. But over the summer my brother and I will be getting a boat so I would like this rod to fit in with that as well.
  12. The falcon is a little more than I am willing. What is the benefit of micro guides? The powell looks good. I hear good things about them and that price is not bad at all at fish ranger. Would the regular casting version be tge one I should consider?
  13. Hey all, I just got a Lew's Tournament Pro in 7.1:1 ratio and need a rod for it. I would like to spend under $120 on the rod but am open to other suggestions not too far from that price. I already have a Abu Ambassadeur T6600CL on a cheap BPS graphite 7' rod for my crank and swimbaits (not the best setup I'm sure but the fish hit it). For the Lew's I mainly want to fish carolina/t-rigs, jigs/spoons, some pitching/flipping (this will not be used for my main pitching/flipping, that is my next rod/reel purchase). I am not sure if I should use spinner/chatter/buzz baits with this setup as well. One rod I have been looking at is the *** black 7'1" MH. I hear a lot of good reviews on them. Thank you for the help.
  14. I have been using Fins XS Windtamer in 15lb on one of my spinning outfits and I have yet to have a wind knot even in ridiculous wind. I also get a little further cast. Wind picks it up but it won't wind knot.
  15. Hey all, first I just want to say that this site is amazing and I am glad I have found it. A whole lot of info on here from the articles to the members. Been lurking for about a month and knew I had to join. I have been fishing my whole life (not uncommon in Florida) but I mainly did offshore fishing with the occasional cast into the fresh. Now I have rediscovered bass fishing and just love it. Just popping in to say hi and what a great site. Thanks, Ricky
  16. Where did you find them for $110? I am interested in the BB1.
