  1. Well I'll be...
  2. Not gonna happen man. If it's solid it's gonna sink! Culprit (iirc) has a soft bodied frog/toad like that but it's still hollow in the middle otherwise it would sink.
  3. Wow even I could not have come up with a name with more of a sexual innuendo haha... I'd have to call that stink'n'pink lake if I lived there.
  4. I feel like Hooligan has a beautiful OCD that will keep him up at night if he has unsexy combos that don't match and stuff. All I want to know is why can't my gf suffer from this affliction?!??
  5. It's not that they're specifically targeting anything, it's that no predator will pass up a meal of red meat when presented with it.
  6. I thought the same thing until I tied one on. Slamsville, man... No lie, the mouse gets hit probably 2-3x as much as any other frog in my box. Also it has a nice whippy walking action, that tail isn't just for looks I swear!!
  7. I'm going to have to find those, I love Roboworm straight tails but they max out at 7".
  8. I only attach one caveat to that statement- and that's that the more you're "into it" the more you will appreciate the things that separate a "good" rod from a "great" rod. If you gave it to the kids or the wife, they might not notice since they never notice anything about the gear. You would certainly notice it though OP, the difference is staggering in most cases, especially in their realm of competence i.e. using a JWR rod for plastics etc.
  9. The markings and coloration on that fish are so perfect it almost looks fake haha nice work!
  10. Or the name of the place where you had your first date. It'll be so romantic you almost won't seem like a deserting, obsessed addict when you're out the door at 4am
  11. Oh they work alright, just do yourself a favor and NEVER LOOK DOWN THE BLANK AT THE GUIDES haha
  12. That would probably make my OCD explode.
  13. Yeah I couldn't get so much as a surly look with these last night. Tried a full size lunk3rhunt frog and nothing as well though so it could have been poor timing. The action honestly looked really good but one thing strikes me as not such a good idea... Head shape of these snakes. There's two main shapes for snake heads profile-wise- there's a tiny head that's in line w body size ie corn snakes and garters which are harmless. Then there are the arrowhead shaped big headed snakes- vipers, rattlesnakes etc which are venomous. Why these have big fat arrowhead viper-like head profile is beyond me. Common sense and natural risk assessment of a bass would almost absolutely dictate that to be a venomous snake if they see the profile. Not sure if it would make a difference but why?? So it floats? No idea really but just just seems counterproductive when designing something that's supposed to look like an easy meal IMO.
  14. Oh come on. Your post was so heavily baited, a largemouth just took a swipe at my monitor.
  15. Pickerel most likely. Their jaw is super bony and much harder to set a hook in, and they are also carrying a mouthful of broken glass-like teeth that will even shred hollow bodied frogs, etc.. I deal with this all the time.
  16. I have a bag of these. Don't remember how I got them, but I feel like it was a gift. I'll tell you what- I'll tie one on and fish it back-to-back with a frog the next time I'm working the weeds and see how they do. In any case- they float, they have good "alive" action and they seem to be decently thought out with hook keepers and such. I'll report back and let you know how it worked out. I still wouldn't pay $50 for them though... Unless I nail a 10#er tonight that is haha FWIW I've had a bag of them sitting in my tackle box for literally years and they still seem fine. Like I said, I'll do a back-to-back with these and a frog and I'll report back my full findings. Hopefully today if I can finish this darn paperwork!
  17. This is why I try to leave a little slack in the line and obsessively stare at the line on the surface as it floats there between the tugs when working unweighted t-rigged plastics around. The second I see it twitch or move in the least- and often you'll never feel it- whip a hook set. I've capitalized on literally dozens and dozens of tiny tastes taken by bass once I started doing this. Often it is impossible to feel what they're doing, but there is a feedback even if it is microscpoic and you can see it if you're concentrating ridiculously hard on what your line is doing. I hope that helps!
  18. BUT DOOD! It has the word EXTREME and color changing paint and stuff on it!!! I'm obviously joking but still... We need to keep in mind that this is a perfect case for "different strokes for different folks"... Some may prefer the combination of all factors of a DX over an XX, and vice versa and it's important to understand that everybody is different. I'd venture to say that $350 is a ton to spend but I've done it, and anybody who spends that much deserves to demand the perfect rod- if whatever rod you bought didn't jive perfectly with your needs/wants, you're going to have a low opinion of that rod since you spent so much money on it and had such high expectations. Now, it's worth noting that I got an NRX 852c for that $350 and at that price I think it was worth it- but full retail? Nope. Not even close. $550+ is crazy talk to me and I just don't see it- but that's not to say someone else thinks its totally worth it and that's totally cool with me! It's probably a really good thing that there are so many different options since we're all different. I just wish people didn't act like their way was the only way, and that their expertise should be valued above all others when considering a rod. It's very important to remember that our opinions are just that- opinions, and while it's important and valuable it's not exactly a universal fact. While having fished and felt a rod and relating your experience and impressions is invaluable to determining where exactly a rod's strengths and faults lie, it's also important to not take it too personally when a rod isn't your unicorn fully realized. It's bound to happen.
  19. I read the title and thought to myself "Man, I have got to get some of what that guy is smoking" haha
  20. Sunline SX1 is not only great line but it stays pretty darn dark green too.
  21. I'd choose a Roman made swimbait. Id then sell said swimbait in the tourney parking lot and go fish a pond on the way home with $400 in my pocket.
  22. Ah man, should have just done the 'ol "circle, circle, dot dot"... Would have been fine!
  23. Only one way to find out!
