  1. I mostly use rat l traps ripped off the bottom or the other extreme a Kietech Swing impact slowly swam off the bottom. Most times between 12 to 20 FOW. near a dropoff.
  2. Just picked up a Pfluger spinning reel and some Sufix Elite mono for my tube rod.Curious to when you guys put your new line on.Now or a couple weeks before ice out.
  3. Early ice is great. The bass bite has been excellent.
  4. A couple from Friday.Bass were stacked around green weeds. One hole produced 5 in about 15 minutes.
  5. 10 LM last Sunday. All jigging and taken thru the ice in about 1 1/2 hrs.Bass were very aggresive.
  6. I would try ripping rat l traps or a Blade bait off the bottom looking foe a reaction strike. If thats a no go try a more non aggresive tactic by slow rolling Keitech swing impacts(swimbait) very very slow off the bottom.
  7. Got got yesterday morning for two hours.Keitech swing impacts slow rolled off the bottom and yo-yoing Rat L Traps produced 6 LM and 2 picks. All bass were around 2 lbs.Water temp was 44 deg.Still time left.Sorry about the pic size when you open them.I need to fix
  8. Hit a small lake this morning. Was greeted with flat water and a water temp. of 53 deg.Picked away at them for a couple of hours.Tough fishing until the wind picked up.Rat-L-Traps were the most productive.Couple on a Rapala DT4.Around 10 or so landed.Biggest close to 2 1/2 - 3 lbs.
  9. What are your favorite ways to fish it?Vertical or casting and bouncing it back.Dick's sporting goods actually had the Silver Buddy.Picked one up in 1/2 oz.I have a feeling i should have picked up more.
  10. Gave Rollins pond a workout this morning. The wind was brutal.Zero boat control.Got frustrated after 2 hrs. and called it a day.Caught about a dozen or so.Couple on tubes but most came on a Rat-L-Trap in 9 ft. of water. All rats.Surprised at the clarity of the water. For some reason i thought it was stained water.
  11. Fished Pleasant Lake in Deerfield today. What a tough day.It just confirms what i already know.I suck at smallie fishing.Water was 59 deg.On a good note ,on the way back to the launch i decided to troll over to one of my smallie spots during the hardwater period.A deep grass bed in 25+ feet of water.Sure enough my fish finder lit up like a christmas tree.Schools of fish everywhere with some baitfish pods.I'm starting to think that Pleasant smallies never come shallow except to spawn.Think i might take a day off this week and pound the heck out of that grass flat.
  12. I have a quick question that maybe some of you guys can help me with.I posted this topic in the smallmouth forum but received no answers. My home lake that i icefish for trout has a good smallie population. This year i am targeting smallies thru the ice.I know of two spots on the lake that hold smallies during the hardwater period. From what i read smallies use the same wintering spots every year.Long story short, when will they move into these spots?I read it's temp. related.I want to fish these spots before ice-in.Sorry that took so long to explain.
  13. When do smallies go to there wintering locations?I have read when the water is 40 deg. but also another article says once the water reaches 55 deg.Is it determined by water temp or some kind of moon phase?
  14. A couple from this morning.3-8 and a 2-11.Bass were hitting cranks and lipless cranks.
  15. I am a member of the top ice fishing site on the internet and stuff like this happens all the time now.One of the reasons i don't visit that site much anymore.Keep posting Mainebass because i like your fish porn.It keeps me motivated to land a big one.We should have a contest for the most smallest bass because i could win that easily.
  16. CRANKY BASS.Gave Harvey Lake another chance to hopefully produce some bigger fish than the last trip.10 min. into the day the rain came down hard with some good winds.Started off with a Bomber 2A crankbait in the red craw pattern.Never had to take it off the rest of the day.The LM were inhaling it.Lost count but nothing over a pound and a half again.
  17. My son just bought a house on Locke Lake in Barnstead. He invited me to go up Sunday and do some fishing.I was wondering if it's a good bass fishery and what size bass it holds.Bobh64,props to your dad for throwing the gitzit(the original).I have been throwing Garlands Gitzit(Bluegill) all summer and have killed the LM.
  18. I never stop. Some of my biggest smallies have come thru a 10 inch hole in the ice.If you locate them in the late fall they will be there through winter.Blade baits or large shiners.
  19. Hit up Harvey Lake in Northwood this morning for the first time in about 10 years.Water temp. was 73 deg.The bass could be found on the top edges of dropoffs in about 6 to 8 feet.Lost count but they were all small.Nothing over 1 1/2 lbs.The crappie were bigger. Most fish were caught on a tube in Bluegill.I love tube fishing.I don't think many people throw them so it gives the Bass a different look. They wanted a slow drag with a little shimmy. Not a sharp hop off bottom.Anyone else throw tubes?
  20. I'll make it easier for you to organize by taking those Keitech baits off your hand.Nice selection.
  21. Picked up a Diawa Tony Bean 6ft. Spinning rod this weekend.Did some research and it seems to be around a 98' model.Brown in color with a longer than usual handle.Gave it a workout today and absolutely loved it.Was throwing tubes with it.Anyone out there ever own this rod back in the day?
  22. Hit Pleasant Pond in Deerfield yesterday for a couple of hours.Caught a few smallies on tubes and grubs.1 and only LM that went 2lb.14oz. on a Keitech swimbait.
  23. I'm in.Why not.
  24. I agree with everything you just posted Nashua Nev.Did you go to Mt. Williams today?
  25. Hit Halfmoon Lake in Barnstead for the first time ever.Bass were relating to rock sections.Caught LM and SM all on Keitech Swing Impact swimbait.Won't be back until end of September.Water skiers at 8;00 in the morning was a little too much for me.
