Angry John's post in Need Help Jig Fishing was marked as the answerI dont think the tie being vertical or horizontal matters as much as the angle. Most grass jigs have a line tie that is 30ish degrees vise 90. It helps pull the jig up and over with a head shape that goes threw the grass better. Flipping jigs also do well due to the head shape.
