It's just a wireless transducer. In theory it should work just fine. However, just like everything else in the world, it will only work in practice if it is manufactured well enough.

Ironically I was just reading that link a couple of days ago. We get our fair share of home owners who think they own the water as well. You'd be amazed at what lengths they go to in order to interfere with fishing. I've actually had people threaten to call the police for fishing near their docks. I just tell them "please do, I've got all day, I'll wait." As for the record, I'm guessing it will stand for quite a while. I've not heard of any LM or SM caught even close to that range in quite a while. I think 7 lbs in a tournament is the biggest I've heard. I would love to go hunting for one though!! B
