new guy here from Conyers, GA. Been racing "those d**n crotch rocket" motorcycles all over the SE for the last 15 years and last year at 53 years old, decided hitting the ground hurt more than it used to, that i dont heal up as fast as i used to, and that i was spending way more money than i needed to. SOOO, i sold everything and took up fishing. Havent fished since i was a kid, and decided i wanted to try for bass rather than crappie or bream (which is all i used to fish for as a youngster). I live in a neighborhood that has a 40 acre pond with hardly anyone fishing on it. I have a small jon boat that i have set up nicely and even on a bad day, can catch 4-6 fish everytime i go. I average 6-10 all in the 1.5 - 2 pound range with a PB of 4.5 in the boat, and one i would guess to be in the 6lb range that rubbed the line in two right as i was flipping him in the boat (needless to say i was NOT a happy camper).
Anyhow, i'm like a sponge to this bass fishing thing. I had no idea there was as much to it as there is. I guess i should have known, i was an instructor for a racing school for the last 10 years as well as a coach for a trackday organization the last 5, and people getting in the the track scene dont realize just how much there is to learn about THAT sport, so i shouldnt have been surprised when it comes to fishing that i would have so many tips and tricks to learn about to be proficient at it.
Good to be here, and hope you guys dont mind an old fart asking questions if i cant find the answers by reading and searching.
