I always focus on the east arm and launch on the center ramp.  If you don't want to get the DNR pass and you're only going to be there a couple days, you can launch at Sawyer Park in Acme and pay to launch daily.  ($5 last time I was there)  There's a primitive launch without a dock off 31 in TC that is free.  I see people launch bassboats there but they do the 2 poles down and are probably getting their feet wet.  I've spent a lot of time fishing the bay in June but am usually leaving by the end of June.  I can point you in the right direction.  The biggest wave of the spawn will be done by then.  This week would have been the time I would have gone there but I've got other family stuff to do.  Traditionally, this is the time right now when the mass of bass are moving on their beds.  End of June is prime spinnerbait time IMO.  Good luck.

I use my 843 GLX and it is a fantastic stick for that bait.

The Loomis 783 was their worming rod back in the day.  Nowadays most people want a longer rod with 7' being the minimum.  Also, the GL3 was the lowest quality blank but still a very solid rod.  I agree with Reel that it would make for a good spinnerbait/chatterbait close quarters rod.  Overall, the 783 is a very versatile rod if you don't mind it being 6'6".

  4. Junk Fisherman's post in Suggestions needed...bought Steez and they sent me the wrong rod... was marked as the answer
For that price, I would not sell the rod.  Even though it is an XH, I suspect it is very light for its power.  I'd use it for frogs, jigs, C-rigs.  If it is too heavy for some of those tactics then use it for punching.  If after a couple months you don't have a need for it, sell it.  For that price you'll be able to get your money back.   But I suspect you'll like it for something.  My Steez spinning rod is the best rod I have ever used and I am planning on getting more of the new series.  Good luck.

Sounds like you would be better off with the 662 Fury or the 702.  Both MN Fisher and I like a 1 power for Ned rigs but many, many guys prefer a 2 power so you can definitely fish a Ned with the 662.  The 2 power is much more versatile than a 1 power.  On average, I'd say the 2 power covers 80% of a fella's bass fishing spinning needs with the 1 and 3 power each covering 10%.  I only use a 1 power for Ned rigs, very light swimbaits, and hair jigs.  I use a Ned rig a lot but the other two presentations I rarely use.  The 3 power I only use for cracking heavy tubes for smallmouth, stupid tubes, and skipping docks which is something I don't do much of anymore.  I'd rather use a light baitcaster than a 3 power spinning rod anyways.  The 2 power is perfect for all the other stuff I didn't mention.   So make it easy on yourself, get the 662, some 20 lb braid, and you'll be all set.  If you become a diehard Ned rig guy you can specialize with a 701 later on.
