  1. i tried a bright red lipless. got hung up after awhile. no bass ;(
  2. Ok ill try and see what the bottom is like. ill be fishing this pond a lot so i might as well know what the bottom is like. there is actually a feeder creek with a rocky bottom. i dont know where that rocky bottom ends though.
  3. So I'm taking it that the best bait to use is something that kicks up muck and dirt?
  4. Ok so there is a pond by my house that i usually fish with great success and today was 70+ degrees here so i went there to fish and usually there is a lot of vegetation (i just fish the little pockets with a weightless worm) but when i went there there was nothing. Aside from a few submerged branches it was basically an underwater wasteland. I could not see this before, because of all the vegetation, but it is extremely shallow. Its about a foot deep with a muddy bottom for about 6-7 feet, past that idk what. Any way, in short: -Shallow, as little as one foot deep, possibly a drop-off -Mostly small bass, under 2 pounds, occasional 3-4lb -No vegetation, rock piles, stumps or anything that I can see -Muddy, but ~1-2 foot visibility -What the hell do I do please thanks
  5. cool beans. i fish in ponds with little to no current
  6. welllll its my only rod atm so...everything. i dont use a lot of lures and i will be purchasing a new baitcaster for my rod soon so it will most likely look like this spinning: shakey head, wacky rig, weightless fluke, small weightless worm, squarebills baitcast: just t -rigs (which is why im hesitant to buy another reel)
  7. Do regular zoom finesse worms float? I hear about a lot of them using them on a shakey head.
  8. ok thanks what size(s) jig head and what worm should i start out with? will just a regular zoom finesse worm do the trick?
  9. 1. When should one use an EWG and when should one use a regular worm hook? 2. What size and style hook for wacky rigged 4" dingers (using bps wacky rings) Thanks!
  10. Ohh. Ok. My Abu Garcia Cardinal s and sx were both 20's I stupidly took them saltwater fishing and didn't feel the need to clean them, hence the new reel. My sx felt perfectly balanced, maybe just because I used it so much. My Trion is bigger though which is why I made this topic.
  11. Well I always fish from the bank. So usually shallow water. Ive never used a jig but I've caught most of my bass on a t-rig If that changes anything Im thinking shakey head just because dropshot doesn't seem like a bank fishing rig, unless I am wrong.
  12. wait how did you know i had a pflueger....
  13. ill most likely use #6 p line cx. should i downsize?
  14. That was my entire summer in that bag. I used those 90% of the time and had lots of success at a pond near me. I created this topic to try something besides those lol. Is that your best color or just some random one.
  15. Ive been wanting to learn how to do these for awhile but i gotta start with one. Which one should i learn first? (i prefer numbers over size and i do most of my fishing may-august) thanks
  16. okay thank you sir. now. what #test p line cx should i use. I tried to compare the diameter to regular stren but one was in inches and one in mm!
  17. Ill be fishing table rock this spring break, from the bank and mostly around docks and such. what should i bring.
  18. Carlyle although its in Illinois only ~1hr drive for me
  19. Ok so i got a ML spinning rod rated 6-10 lb line and a size 30 spinning reel with 6/145 and 8/130 but it looks a little too big for my rod. Is it bad that my spinning reel is too big or is it close enough (there is also a size 25) also the rod is rated 1/8-1/2 lure weight. it is rather strong for a ML IMO.
  20. cool thx you mean the straight finnesse ones, right? not the curl tail ones?
  21. One piece of advice I would give is don't buy a ton of baits at once you will just overwhelm yourself. I am also new to bass fishing but what I did when I started was I used a square bill around rocks and stumps and a t-rigged worm for weeds and cover. I slowly gained confidence with those baits and now I'm trying new rigs/lures. I don't know why, but at least for me, if I have a lot of confidence in a certain bait, even if it's not well suited for the conditions I am fishing, I will catch more fish than a different bait that is more suited for those conditions, but one I don't have as much confidence in. well I got a little carried away there (typing this on my phone. I have no idea how much I've written ) Anyway in short: Pick a few baits that cover a variety of conditions, gain confidence in them by using just them exclusively, catch fish. DumbassFisherman out
  22. Well my ML spinning rod isn't exactly a frog rod...but thanks anyway
  23. besides a stick style worm like the senko, what would be a good worm to use texas rigged? I used the zoom u tails and zoom finsse worm because they both have worked in the past for me and they are cheap at walmart. Are there better worms out there that arent to terribly expensive and catch numbers of fish?
  24. Ok thanks guys. Ill try spinnerbait to find the fish, but if I see an area that looks promising, ill use a wacky rig. Thanks guys!
  25. I have a pond near my house where i use a zoom finesse 5 in worm but otherwise i also use a 6 inch ribbon tale which ive had okay luck with. I guess I forgot to mention I do use wacky rig, usually as a last resort though. Ill try spinnerbaits. I only have 2 medium spinning rods though. Will they be able to fish a 3/8 oz spinnerbait? Also wouldnt a lipless crank get hung up easily?
