  1. Nice! I have the totalscan as well. However, I'm having some issues. I get a rooster tail at plane and I must be getting interference because the picture quality isn't as good as it should be. I'm thinking I'll have to move the transducer. I works and has helped me catch fish my first time out with it but it can be better. Where is yours installed? What kind of boat do you have?
  2. I bought a new boat this winter (tracker pro team 175) and I purchased some graphs to go along with it, two Lowrance HDS7's. I'd like to end the year fully understanding these graphs and be able to find fish. I'd like be more adapt with soft plastics in general. Specifically dropshots but not just that rig. I plan on having outings where all I bring are plastics, force myself to fish them and get comfortable with it. My season started April 1st. I went down to Okoboji Lake in Iowa. It was a great day as well, caught 25 total. LMB, Smallies and Northerns. Caught mostly everything on a jerkbait but got a lot of the LMB on a squarebill. I was surprised they were hitting a squarebill, water temps were around 43. Biggest LMB was just under 4# and the biggest smallie was a little over 3.5#. I went today and I was not prepared for the adventure. I've never been and all the info I found online wasn't very helpful. Didn't help I didn't expect to be doing a bunch of driving (stupid of me) and my tank was pretty low. By the time I got somewhere that I though would be good i as so low on gas I felt the need to head back. I was out on the water for almost 4 hours and I made maybe 75 casts. I spent most of the time driving around trying to find fishable backwaters. I'd like to go back, if anyone has experience on pool 2 and wants to join let's make it happen. It was a bit overwhelming for me today.
  3. I got out on the Mississippi on Friday and caught a few smallies. It was fun minus having to wade the bank with 20 other anglers. Crazy! I'm going to try to get out on the Mississippi one more time before winter returns.
  4. Hey crew, I'm going to be in OKC purchasing a boat in the coming weeks. Im from MN so I'm not from the area. I've scheduled my trip so I get about a day and half of fishing. In my research, I've found lake konawa and arbuckle to be my best options that are relatively close to OKC. Would you guys that are familiar with the lakes agree or should I look into another lake? Do you prefer one over the other in the winter time?
  5. It was 45 and sunny in Minneapolis. I got out Sunday afternoon for a few hours. Water temp was 40 but they were still biting jerkbaits. Caught 4 for a total of 10lbs. All we're caught in 6-8ft off a point.
  6. Anyone go out today or have plans to Sunday/Monday? Today would of perfect. I'm going to try to get out Sunday or Monday. High of 50 on Monday in the cities!
  7. Another good day for me. Best 5 was 16.16 and I got a 5lber. Same thing, Jerkbaits on weedlines in 6-8ft of water. WT:47
  8. Check out 13. I love dem reels.
  9. Had a couple of hours on Medicine this morning. Worked the back cove for most of the time and got nothing but small northers in the deeper spots. Went out on the main lake and fished a small sunkin island for 30 minutes and caught a 4 and 4.75, both on a deeper running jerkbait. WT: 47-48 One thing worth mentioning, last last time I went out the fish wanted a long pause, I was waiting 5 seconds on the pause. Today they were more aggressive and liked a shorter pause, I was waiting 1 second.
  10. Weird morning of fishing. Had a dink bass on and a huge pike attacked it while I was reeling it in and I almost landed both. Also caught a walleye ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  11. Yeah, they are shallow for me as well. Was out Friday morning and got my two biggest (3.2 and 2.8) on the bank by timber. Going out tomorrow morning and hopefully it will be the same.
  12. ^ Don't say that, Friday is a high of 71!
  13. d**n dude, that would be the best week of fishing in my entire life!
  14. Fished Medicine lake for the first time today. Only caught one bass, a decent one around 3 pounds and a good amount of northerns. Had a bunch of big northerns follow up my bait but not strike. Anyone have any advice for Medincine lake? I hear people say it's good for bass, I couldn't find them though. WT: 53-54
  15. Got out for 2 hours this morning, 10am-12pm. Caught two 4lbers, including one that was 4.25 which is a new PB. Pretty stoked. One on a dock off a secondary point and the other on a dropoff weedline. Chartreuse chatterbait and black/blue jig were the baits. Only other fish I caught was a 1.5lber super shallow. WT: 54.
  16. Wow, what a day!
  17. Went out for 6 hours this morning. Lake was busy with people fishing. Caught 7, a few bass, a few northern. Pretty much all dinks. I felt like I had a hard time finding them. I worked the shore, flats, weed edges and drop offs. Everything I caught was on a moving bait (Whopper Plopper, spinnerbait, swimming a jig). Ready to work a new metro lake.
  18. Went out late morning and fished for about 2 hours today on Lake Johanna and got skunked. First time fishing Lake Johanna so I was trying to figure it out. No bites until my last spot and had a 2.5-3 pounder on but she jumped and shook the hook. Would like to get back out there next week and try again. EDIT: Anyone who's fished Lake Johanna want to go out with me next week?
  19. I live just a few miles from Lake Johanna, I need to get out there!
  20. So happy I found this thread. Lots of great info in here. After about a decade away from fishing I'm starting back up and I'm very motivated. I spend most nights on youtube watching bass videos after the wife falls asleep and I just got a great deal on a 16ft lunker. I went out this morning for the first time on Weaver lake (close to my parents place where the boat is) and just caught a few in the 10ft weed beds. Had a few attack my frog in the early morning but I'm so rusty I got so excited and didn't set the hook properly/well haha. I'm looking to fish some relatively small lakes (because I'll be by myself) for bass around the city. Any suggestions of where to go? I was thinking of trying out Crooked Lake after what Punch said.
