  1. Fished a new lake on Friday that was WAY out in the sticks. Tried flipping some jigs but it was to much of a pita with all of the submerged weeds. Top water in the morning and evening with some wobblers in the noonday sun was the ticket. I was pretty surprised that I had the lake to myself from sun up to sun down, never had that happen around the KC area. Will be returning soon....PB territory:)
  2. The lake we fished this weekend had bait schooling in the mouths of the largest creeks, cannot wait for the fall pattern to begin. Jigs were the bait of the day. Once again I was out fished but things could be worse Big bass was just shy of 5. The dotte was pretty solid tonight, once you found them the ned was all you needed.
  3. Hit up the dot tonight, some solid numbers and a few nicer fish. Cannot complain for a local lake. The wind tomorrow should make it interesting...
  4. We fished Cedar on Sunday after hitting up another local lake that was packed. Did better at Cedar than the other lake. We generally don't fish any areas you can hit from the bank unless the bite is really on. The North side is almost unfishable with all of the braided line that is littering the bottom of the lake When we were launching we had one of those meat fisherman cast lines in front and behind my boat...gotta get those fish!
  5. This explains a lot, last year was the first time I fished melvern and I thought I just sucked at fishing for smallies in Kansas...since it didn't fish anything like the posts I saw from the previous year at least for us.
  6. We hit up Wolf on Sunday and it was a solid bite all day long. Had to stop by the hot water in the morning to get our fill of wiper and whites before heading out into cooler water to target smallies. Found them just about everywhere we looked, a few spots they were stacked up so thick we both caught them on back to back casts. It will be hard but next weekend I'm going to try and break my brown fish addiction and head to a small impoundment of water in rural ???? to target some green fish or maybe I'll be at Wolf again feeding the addiction
  7. Will do, always nice to fish with new people. The topography of that lake reminds me of some of the Canadian waters I have fished over the years.
  8. Smallie....I meant keeper walleye. Next time I'm at Clinton it wont be in a wind storm and I'll be targeting me some eyes. In general lakes smaller than dotte I wont post about because I have seen the effects first hand.
  9. We hit up Clinton for the first time today since it seemed like the only lake that we could get a break from the wind. The goal was to get a brown fish in the boat and that goal was accomplished. Water was 54, squarebill was the bait of the day but the big smallie came on the black and blue chatter surprisingly.
  10. I have done decent with a jerkbait in the arm on the East side of the lake and have done really well in the summer with a frog in the scum around the bluff walls. I would bail on Olathe and hit up Cedar with a chatterbait....lots of shore access and it should be in the upper 50s by now. I have had some epic days there but haven't fished it this year with the larger boat. Perfect lake for a kayak or jon. Watch out for the poison ivy.
  11. We were the second boat out behind @Nabes and also headed over to the hot water area just to see if we could find a school of hungry fish. It didn't take long to find them and we worked the school for about an hour alone before a couple other boats joined in on the action. After the bite slowed there we headed out into the cooler water and found quite a few willing smallies. Depending on the area we also picked up a decent amount of eyes. Good day overall. Hard and soft baits all produced.
  12. Gardner was a blank, water was 48. Totally ridic on the double 10s from La Cygne being kept but I can believe it. Have to wonder how many others went the same way at the discharge....
  13. Gardner today after work...not sure yet about tomorrow but I have a few ideas
  14. We spent the weekend at Wolf, second boat on Saturday and first on Sunday. Not may boats out either day, the cold weather must have kept everyone at home which is alright by me. Saturday was fish on from the first cast. The morning saw a lot of wipers and green bass while the afternoon had quite a few smallies out of shallow and deep water. Sunday was absolutely on fire, we pulled up to the first spot and didn't move the boat for over a hour. We hammered a giant school full of wiper, white, green, and brown bass. Did the normal hot water laps after that.
  15. We started off the day around 8 and boy was it slow. Beat the banks for a while with nothing to show for it then we moved off shore and it was game on! Solid bass with bonus slabs.
  16. We fished Wolf for a couple hours today before getting called off for wind. Started out in the discharge and picked up a few decent lmb on hard baits. It got a little crowded so we tried a cooler water area but with the wind howling it was a total pita to fish so we went back to the warmer water. Decided to switch it up and target wipers and I'm glad we did as we found a nice school and worked them over. We had quite a few double headers. All in all decent day considering the conditions.
  17. Anyone heading to wolf tomorrow? Thinking about taking my chances with getting called off for wind.
  18. Slept in on Saturday and by the time we made it to Wolf it was PACKED! Joined the boat show in the discharge for a minute and picked up a decent smallie then nada. Left for less pressured water, overall slow day for us, biggest bass went just over 3.5 Went to Shawnee Lake today and bagged a couple trout. South boat ramp was iced over.
  19. We got out to Coffee County Lake for a couple hours this morning before getting called off due to wind. Fish were active, nothing worth taking a pic of but it was nice just to be out on the water after this miserable weekend.
  20. I'll second that! Solid day for us, hard baits.
  21. We started off targeting lmb but after an hour without a bite we switched to wipers and after several quick bites I knew we made the right decision. Best fish of the day went 7.5 on a trap.
  22. I mistyped, I meant MC. Mound City lake. We tried Miami SL this summer and it was all we could do to put a couple dinks in the boat.
  23. Hey all, I recently moved to Kansas (6 months) and I have to say this forum has been a great source of info to get me started on the lakes around here. We hit up MS last weekend and I was hoping for a hot fall bite but the action was a little slow with the bluebird skies. I did manage to stick one good bass that went 4.5 on a squarebill.
