Old Town Predator yak
Been fishing on the banks and want to get out ON the water. A bass boat is out for now but a kayak is feasible. I was looking at the old town predator with the Minn Kota motor. What are the thoughts and opinions of it? I am a big guy and will be taking it on the lakes and rivers here in Florida.

Latest Tackle Purchase Thread (Bait Monkey Victim Support Group)
I am new to bass fishing. As I read more and more about it, especially different techniques, I find myself buying more and more tackle. In a short time I now have somewhere around 25 bags of different soft plastics plus a bunch of terminal tackle. My newest purchase arrived today. A 7'6" heavy/fast Fitzgerald Vursa Rod and a Abu Garcia Revo SX reel with Fitzgerald Vursa braid for Carolina rigging and flipping/pitching.

What's your favorite braid?
Been using Fitzgerald Vursa braid

Rod for C rigs
I was looking at 1/2 oz weight. I didnt know if a MH rod could handle it.

Rod for C rigs
I have a 7'6" heavy fast rod. Is this a good rod for Carolina rigs? My other choices are a 7' MH or a 7' MH spinning rod.

Box vs Pack
I bought mine from tackle warehouse, 59 dollars. Got 4 flat boxes in a dedicated section, A nice hard bottom that allows it to stand up on the ground and plenty of storage. Nice quality too. It is big enough that you can pack enough gear in it for an extended day on the water without having to worry about trekking back to the car for stuff.

Box vs Pack
I ought a tackle backpack. They are not that expensive and includes several 3600 or 3700 boxes. It is nicer than using a regular back pack because it has a dedicated section that fits the hard boxes perfectly and has pockets in the right place.

Bait recommendations for Florida
I am new to bass fishing. I live in Florida and have been told there are bass in these here waters. I want to try and catch some of them. I am over whelmed at the choice of baits and styles of fishing them. I know different baits and fishing techniques vary based on multiple factors such as time of year and time of day, temperature of the water, water color and clarity, etc. but I am looking for some general tips and recommendations for some basic go to baits and fishing techniques that work well for Florida waters. I know that a lot of the water here is warm and cloudy and often times tannin colored. I don't own a boat or kayak yet, so I will be bank fishing lakes and ponds in my area, which is the Bradenton/Sarasota area of Florida on the west coast. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated and will help ease the feeling of being overwhelmed by choices.

Advice on my old rod and reel
I'm new to bass fishing and am awaiting the arrival of my new rod and reel; a Daiwa Tatula and a 7' mh dobyns fury. In the mean time I found my old rod and reel which is a Shimano Stradic 5000fi spinning reel on a Shimano Teramar inshore spinning rod 7'mh. I had not used it in over 10 years, so I cleaned and lubed the reel and replaced the line on it with power pro 50 lb braid with Barkley vanish fc leader. My question is: how well is this set up going to perform bass fishing until my other gear arrives? I know the reel is big for bass being a 5000 size. I'm planning to use a Texas rig or spinner bait with the set up. Any advice on other baits that would perform better with this rig?

Rod and Reel advice
Thanks for the advice. I am looking for a baitcaster reel as I have read they are the most versatile. I can only afford a single set up currently and looking for a multipurpose rod and reel, not too technique specific. I was looking into a Dobyns fury 7' MHF rod paired to a Daiwa Tatula CT reel. For 20 dollars more, is the Tatula 100HL better? Thanks https://www.tackledirect.com/dobyns-fr-703c-fury-series-baitcasting-rod-7-ft.html https://www.tackledirect.com/daiwa-tact100h-tatula-ct-baitcasting-reel.html https://www.tackledirect.com/daiwa-tatula-100hl-tatula-baitcasting-reel.html

Rod and Reel advice
I am getting back into fishing after many many years away from it. I have read many of the forum articles and other websites regarding suggestions and reviews, but I am still unsure and confused. For now, I am going to be fishing from the bank using a variety of baits, but will be mostly using top water. I want to get a nice, quality rod and reel. My experience on buying rod and reel "combos" is that they are not usually the best bet. I would like to spend about 150 on the rod and 150 on the reel. Looking for a general purpose baitcaster. I love St Croix, Orvis and Loomis fly rods but am not sure of their non fly rods. Thanks
