  1. Mine never got caught up at all, but it definitely stopped me from getting max distance. I wasn’t a fan and returned it. I wish they made a split grip without the micro guides. Getting a Dobyns Champion 734
  2. Do you think 50lb braid is to heavy for a 734c Champ? 1oz plopper?
  3. American Legacy Fishing 20% off Dobyns plus if you sign up for the newsletter you get 10% off code and free shipping. Hard to resist the XP, but I’ll save that for next year.
  4. I went with the 734 H C Champ, $186 after all of the promos available! Merry Xmas to me. Thanks everyone
  5. I felt both in hand, the Champ XP feels way more balanced and alot lighter.
  6. Has anyone fished both these rods, curious how sensitive they are for bottom fishing with a rig?
  7. All around rod. Texas rig to 1oz plopper.
  8. Which caster would you go with and why the Legend Bass 71MHF or Champion 734c?
  9. Guys, I have been unable to locate a store in my area that has anything but the usual items like at cabellas or bass pro. I stumbled upon a local shop that was amazing. They had every rod you read about in the forums. I was able to compare Donny’s, Shimanos, Megabass, etc. I was blown away by the Champion 734c compared to the avid as well as the fury vs the mojo bass. So noticeable in the hand. The Champion 734 was the first rod I felt even more than the avid x that had perfect balance. No tip heaviness at all. I think I’m going with the champion 734c at 20% off. They also handle warranty at the counter. Can’t wait!
  10. Guys how would this rod compare to a Bass Mojo or an Avid X? Tough buying a rod you never felt.
  11. Gotcha, is the jump from a Fury to a Champion worth it in your opinion?
  12. That ones a Heavy rod, I was thinking more medium heavy. But what made you suggest the heavy?
  13. What would be a good all around Dobyns rod 7-7.4 Medium Heavy? Going to throw all applications on it. Fury line to Champion I would say.
  14. Speaking of a mojo bass MHF 7.1. The line weight is rated 12-20. Is that based on all types of line? What happens if you use higher or lower on it? Could 50lb braid snap the pole?
  15. Either way the Avid is short and returned. Thanks for the correction on the ipt tho.
  16. My favorite is a 1oz plopper, I fish from shore and I like to cover a lot of areas. I’m in the north east so lots of wind. I like distance to position around that. I don’t cast so far when I’m using non top water, texas rig and all the usual we all use. I’m just estimating the amount of turns on the reel. If she pulls in 3ft a crank it’s what I’m estimating. Using the Curado dc not k and it soars.
  17. I’m casting 180 ft with the mojo and like 140-150 with the Avid
  18. Both rods are MHF?? I don’t follow, I just said that the Avid felt more like a medium.
  19. Yes no eyes were missed. Same everything during my comparison. All different. If I am using a 1oz plopper I should be able to bomb it better than my ugly stick that’s a medium and 6 inches shorter. It just has a lot of flex to it, where the Bass mojo felt more powerful
  20. I had a Bass Mojo 71mhf and a Avid X 7mhf. Same reel and line and the Bass Mojo outcasted the Avid X by 15-20 percent each time with all different lines. I felt the micro guides slowed it down and it wasn’t as stiff. What are some other decent rods.
  21. I wasn’t getting good casting on the Avid x, I’m afraid it would be the same on the Avid. MH and it felt like a Medium.
  22. I feel like the micro guides are slowing me down. What would be a comparable brand and model to a St. Croix Avid X. It will be my main rod for just about everything. 7ft and above.
  23. Is Dobyns mail order only, I would like to feel one before I buy.
  24. Is a medium power rod less likely to break over a medium heavy due to its stiffness?
