  1. understood. Last month had a few tricky spots Hardware down to 7 Islands. yep SAM agreed! low flow conditions We got to the ramp after dark! not fun paddling in rapids almost blindly
  2. nice I like the sound of that. I think I'll need to give it a try myself
  3. how do you like that stretch of river? or is it similar to the section below Scottsville? I really like the section from Hardware to New Canton.
  4. Sunday fished Wilcox for 2-3 hours. Caught 4 and lost 2 nice ones (3+ lbs). Tried lots of lures, but all bites I had were on crankbaits & rattl traps good luck & tight lines
  5. welcome I hope a rise in water level will help the fish bite wasnt too good a month ago
  6. They got some rain in the mountains, but the water hasn't made it down stream yet the green is normal red is very low yellow is below normal
  7. 1 foot! yikes I think you'll be banging & dragging all the way I floated Scottsville to New Canton 3+ weeks ago gauge was about 2.5' still dragging in many spots. Cartersville looks too low
  8. Sunday I'm going back for round #2. I'll let you know
  9. First 4 hours of the OUT GOING TIDE are supposed to be the best times to catch fish
  10. well I gave up on saltwater, so I hope you you can figure out saltwater better than me. good luck
  11. been thinking about fishing Chick Lake, if you want to meet up sometime. I'm in Hampton, might be halfway for us both.
  12. I've been wanting to try Lake Whitehurst in Norfolk, it was closed from 2009-2018 some FAA BullSheet!! it was the best rated in the state for walleye I've been fishing Bethel some, and it's not the fishery it was 10 years ago. Way too many Carp~! no idea about Back Bay, it's coming back, slowly I assume. It was once as good as it gets! I've heard many Old timer stories from the 1970's and BassMaster Classic in adjacent Currituck Sound, they said that Back Bay/Currituck Sound was better than Florida bass fishing! yep Cheatham Annex has some good fishing access with atleast 2 ponds/lakes. that's where I'd go. good luck, tight lines! I don't think DGIF has sampled/surveyed Whitehurst since it was reopened. it's only been open 1 year, very tempting! shhhhhhhhhh ?
  13. long pier to the kayak launch I drug mine down, but it's better if you got a cart or something with wheels
  14. Rapp is running very low. go to Crows Nest on Accokeek (next to Aquia, but smaller) they got a nice kayak launch and it's good fishing https://www.dcr.virginia.gov/natural-heritage/natural-area-preserves/crowsnest
  15. I fished up river on the middle James, 1 hour north between Scottsville & New Canton. Friday was terrible = 0 Saturday started slow but I finished with 18, nothing bigger than 14" ZERO on topwater ZERO on spinnerbatis, cranks or jerkbatis, a few on senkos. NED rig & brown grubs, was what worked best for me. first I was bouncing them, then they were biting them on swim retrieve. they were biting pretty good, until dark and I had to hustle to get to the ramp just get a some grubs and jig heads, that's my best advice
  16. Follow up Report 9/13-9/15 Friday was semi-slow, cloudy with drizzle all day, nothing consistent, junk pattern day Saturday morning was slow until 12, then the bite was good until dark Sunday was slow, caught a few, but this 4.5 hawg hammered a crank for me. Overall it was a slower bite than our Sept 2018 trip, and caught about 10 fewer bass. 75% of the bite was on the fall, 25% chase Zero 0 topwater we did sorta attempt going up the river, but decided to turn around before the golf course. I'll try it again sometime, when the lake level is normal
  17. thanks for the help! my pond in Church Road is 3' below normal, so that has me a little unsure about going up the river
  18. I think I figured out the route? so just keep the motor trimmed up and I'll be fine? thx I think I figured out the route? so just keep the motor trimmed up and I'll be fine? thx anything to report? good luck with your surgery I'll be fishing Chesdin next week Thurs-Sunday
  19. thanks for the tips & good luck tight lines
  20. yeah I see know what you mean, and I've seen the aerials to understand it's a strange route to fish the Appomattox. Sunday I did catch about 50-60 gizzard shad in my cast net some treats for my pond bass Gizzard shad all were about 3-4" strange it seems like about that size is all I've seen at Chesdin I know they can get big.
  21. no I'm not sure what you mean I've put in at the campground ramp
  22. yep good tip think I will fish around Namozine
  23. thanks for the report I hope to give it a try this weekend. also plan to take my cast net to see those shinner/shad a little closer. I'll post if I'm successful
  24. gotcha yeah GFS Euro model seems to be more reliable so a hybrid of those 2+ models is what I'd watch
  25. I like this weather guy and he's in Richmond. https://www.facebook.com/WxRisk/ In the past He's been pretty reliable https://www.facebook.com/notes/wxriskcom/thursday-midday-update-dorian/2404338012946776/
