Busted My Rod.
Thanks guys. I'll see if i can exchange this broken one and if not i'll probably get another one since everyone says it's such a good rod.

Busted My Rod.
Well that's good to know. Thanks for the help, i'm going to call them tomorrow and see what they'll do. Will a longer rod give me more distance? It seemed like i really couldn't get out very far with that six foot medium/fast rod using 10lb jbraid. I was fishing everything from weightless senkos up to heavier jigs and spoons but it just felt like i should be able to cast further than what i was.

I just looked, it's from a chain of stores called Runnings, they were the only online retailer i could find that had the 6 foot one i wanted in stock. Don't know anything about them tho.

I bought it online, i'm going to talk to them tomorrow and see what they'll do.

Busted My Rod.
Yeah i probably should have just cut the line. But like i said i'm new it was only my 2nd day fishing so i didn't know a rod could break so easily. I assumed the line or knot would break first.

Busted My Rod.
I was pulling back straight on it, not sure where i was holding it. Then i tilted up a bit and the second i did that it snapped.

Busted My Rod.
Thank you. I bought that aird-x because it was so insanely light, but boy i swear it never should have snapped that easy. It snapped right above the bottom guide and i really wasn't putting all that much power into it.

Best braid
I recently saw a video on youtube where a guy ran all different brands of braid across a belt of sandpaper to test durability. That suffix 832 did really well.

Busted My Rod.
Second time out fishing with my Aird-X 6 Foot M/F rod and i hooked a bush and busted it. Is there a cheap brand of rod (under 50 dollars) that is known for being tough? Being new and not really knowing what i'm doing i'm worried i'll break one again so i dont want to spend a lot.

Senko vs. Yum Dinger
Under the "Articles" grouping, the "Keeping Senkos Simple" link seems to not work.

What line to use?
Great thanks. That's the kind of info that's probably second nature to you guys but i never would have known if someone hadn't told me.

What line to use?
Ah ok, is that because the more full the spool is the better the line will cast and retrieve?

What line to use?
Thanks for all the tips guys. I was back in my basement yesterday to do something and found an unopened 150yd spool of some "15lb translucent Spider Wire Stealth Braid" that i had picked up over a year ago when i was going to start fishing but never did end up doing it, i totally forgot i owned it. I wasn't going to use it with this rod and reel because i assumed 15lb was too much and i didn't want to damage the gear. I guess i'll try that first since i already own it and then i'll try some of that Smackdown and Powerpro and Suffix after.

What line to use?
I saw a video on youtube of a guy who's been testing a lot of different braids trying to find out the one that is best for what he needs. He said he finally found the perfect line for him in Smackdown after using many other brands. I guess different people like different qualities in their lines. I'm probably going to just go out and try the brands that you guys all recommend over the next few months or so and see what i like best.

What line to use?
Thank you for the recommendation, i'll add Sufix 832 to my list. Funny i was watching a youtube video as you sent that message of a guy doing abrasion testing on braided lines and Sufix 832 excelled. Thank you i'll check out power pro. And thanks for that link, that's great since i haven't even considered yet what lures i'll be using. That makes it very easy.

What line to use?
Excellent thank you. So far that's two people who have said that brand and it's the only one mentioned so far.

What line to use?
wow the buy reviews on that page are really bad!

What line to use?
Great thanks for the recommendation, i just book marked a page for that brand. If you don't mind me asking why that brand? Is it smoother, or does it have a thinner diameter than cheaper ones? Having never fished i don't know what people look for in fishing line qualities.

What line to use?
I have a new Daiwa Regal LT 2000D on the way that i will be putting on my 6' MF Daiwa AIRD-X spinning rod. I want to put some braid on it but i'm unsure on what test to use. I'm new to fishing so i haven't a clue on how to tell what test line i'm supposed to be using. The rod says "line weight 4-10", and the reel says "braid 8/280, 10/215, max drag 11lbs". I will be doing freshwater fishing at some lakes and rivers here in VA and i'm sure all i'll be catching is some small stuff but like i said i've never fished before so i'm unsure what i will actually get. I will probably be using some small plastic worms and some float fishing with worms. From what i can gather from looking at Youtube 8 or 10lb braid might be want i want but i'm still very unsure? Please let me know and also i would really appreciate any recommendations on brands of line, i don't mind spending a few extra bucks if something is nicer but of course if the cheap stuff is just as good i'll get that. Let me know what brand of line is your favorite! Thank you!

Yeah i checked there and saw that, the only thing is i stopped buying from amazon if it wasn't Prime because i had a bad experience where i couldn't return something that was defective and it cost me a lot of money. I actually just found the Regal LT 2000D online for about 10 dollars more and picked it up. After tax and shipping it came to 54 dollars. Thank you for your help! It looks like that reel and the Aird-X rod will go well together and be a good combo that only cost me $100

Thanks for that recommendation, i added it to my short list. I found some online today for $40 and free shipping but they were sold out of the size i wanted. I'm going to keep an eye out and if i see the size i want for that price i'm going to get one if i haven't gotten something else yet.

Help picking a reel! I'm new to fishing and wanted to get a budget rod/reel to go try and catch some small fish at some local rivers and ponds in VA. I bought a 6' Medium/Fast Daiwa Aird-X Spinning Rod for $50. I will be fishing from the banks but i can't stand for more than a few minutes at a time so i wanted a very light and short setup that i could comfortably use while sitting. I want to get a matching Daiwa black/gold reel to go with the rod and there are two i'm looking at. I tried to pick the smallest and lightest reels that would handle 8-10lb line and still be affordable. One is the Daiwa Regal LT 2000 for $60. The other is the Daiwa Exceler LT 1000 @ $80, that's $20 more than the Regal. What i wanted to know is it worth the extra 20 dollars, i don't know anything about fishing so it's hard for me to judge if the upgrades are worth 20 dollars more, also i have been looking at reviews of them both from buyers on websites and there seems to be a common problem popping up on seller sites about the Regal not spooling properly. Please let me know which one i should get. Thanks!
