My First Bass Boat!

Featured Replies

So I have never owned a bass boat before but now it is time to go all in. I have my eyes set on a 2004 ranger 175VS. This is what the seller provides-

2004 RANGER 175VS DUAL CONSOLE

115 MERC OPTIMAX ( 160hrs ) WITH MERCURY SMARTCRAFT MONITOR IN DASH

MINN KOTA 65LB THRUST TROLLING MOTOR

Garmin 240 ON THE BOW AND Lowrance X125 IN DASH

LIVE WELL ,BUILT IN COOLER

2 BUILT IN ROD LOCKERS

Great fuel economy

Lots OF STORAGE

ON BOARD TWO BANK CHARGER

NEW BATTERIES

Includes Ranger Boat and Motor Cover

The boat looks wonderful and I am going to go pay it a visit. He is asking 11K but im hoping to get him down to 9 or 10.

Are there some specific questions I should ask?

What should I look for in a bass boat?

What do you think about this boat?

Any information on what to look for would be great.

Thanks in advance!

With a boat like this, your most important consideration is the motor. It is the most expensive thing to repair or replace on the entire rig, and without it, you are going nowhere fast. Everything else can be dealt with fairly easily. Check inside for any signs of deterioration, particularly at the transom. It's a nice-looking boat!

motor, motor, motor. Don't buy it without putting it in the water first and driving it. Listen for anything unusual. It looks like a great boat though! good luck

Don't believe the "oh yeah they all sound like this.." Or "yea thats the noise it makes when .. blah blah blah " get it checked. With that much money on the line I would get it checked.
