What do you do with a bass that has completely engulfed a crank? I had a few the other day that were crushing square bills. One had some hooks in her gills. I used a pair of wire cutters and just cut off the hooks and left it at that. What should be done to give the fish the best chance of survival?

I use a bill dance dehooker and if the gills bleed i pour sprite yes i said sprite the drink over the gills and the bleeding will stop the fish will survive.
