I'm new to the board, and fairly new to the sport. I was wondering if anyone could steer me in the right direction as to some good spots to fish in the Mid-Michigan area. Thanks!

Were at exactly in Michigan Because around Clare county there are some great tournaments. Respond back. If your close or fell like fishing ill post the schedule.

I'm in Mt. Pleasant, so anything within an hour or so really would work. Not ready for tournaments at this point...more of a weekend warrior type. Any help is appreciated though!

Well I am sure you know where jays sporting goods is. Stop in there, they have a great tournament league. Ask to speak to Brian (Great guy) ask him about the JAYS bass fishing league he will give you a schedule most likely. There are diffrent tournaments and there schedules if you ask . Most tournaments are about 30 minuetes north of clare. They are on a sunday night from 5 to 8 pm I think. Its like 30 bucks to fish. With a classic at the end of the year if you pay for all the tournaments. Two person teams but if you have a son or daugheter under 14 they can fish with you also. Just a bunch of 20 or so great guys getting together to fish. Hope to see ya there!

Head to the bay. All the smallie and walleye fishing you could hope for less than an hour away..... You also have Secord lake not too far off.

Hey Mikey, welcome to the boards!

I know you've got a few lakes to the east of you like Wixom or Sanford, but don't forget to look to the west too. I'm only a half-hour away from you in that direction, and I'm surrounded by some pretty good lakes. Give me a scream if you want to check out some of them this summer!

My experience is from Roscommon County. Higgins Lake is a great smallmouth lake; it's pretty cold. Houghton lake is warmer and better for largemouth. IMHO.
