Bps Trip

Featured Replies

Im making a trip out to bass pro today! Unfortunately its because i snapped the tip of my fly rod while casting, how? i dont know. But it was a cheap rod for me to learn on and it did its job, so should i just take the money for the rod instead of keeping the new one, and then upgrade? And for all you fly fisherman out there, do you just use bulk mono to make leaders?

Depends on what you are doing with the leaders. Throwing flies or poppers on a floating line, I prefer tapered. If you are throwing sub surface or heavier stuff, straight mono is fine. As far as the rod goes, it's up to you if you are ready to upgrade, then do so. No need to go nuts though!

Casting flies for trout = tapered leaders.

Fly fishing for bass or bream = straight or twisted mono
