Quick question for you guys. Do you think the amount of rain we have had in SoFla so far is going to cause the bass to do their migration back into the flats early in the glades? The true rainy season is right around the corner. Any thoughts?

The water has been high due to pumping for a few months now. I don't think they have had any issue getting into the flats for some time.

Evrgladesbasser, do you think all the pumping they are doing is part of the everglades restoration project or something else? Sounds like you get out alot more than me, has the everglades been has productive for you this year compared to last year around this time?

I don't know much about the restoration project. It seems to change all the time. I think the pumping has more to do with keeping the water levels in check in the residential areas. God forbid someone in Weston would have to step in a puddle. I haven't noticed any change in productivity over last year to be honest, but I don't keep records.. Very soon we will be having days on the water where catching 50-100+ fish will be common.

Wow, I don't know but the reports I get and the tournament results I see, show a huge fall-off in catch rates from last year The water levels entered the dry season high, didn't fall off all that much and are back up again, plus SFWMD is moving watger around like crazy.The rainy season has started...NWS pegged the start day as May 8.

The best places I have found to fish recently are the residential canals, especially after the rains late afternoon.

Number 8, PSRP, is the restoration project currently going on that is a restoration and 3 pump stations, that is over by Naples. I was there for the tail end of the project when I worked in Tampa for the Corps consultant. There is also Number 13 that is going to increase water levels in the east.
