Anybody been out there recently and, if so, how was it?

Sorry, wrong forum..meant to post in Southeast

If that is the one with the turn around to go back east, I did a lot better last week there than the holiday park reports lately. Also saw a 5 and 3-4 lber swimming by one of the weirs as i was going through. only fished for a few hrs. Caught maybe half dozen w/ the biggest like 2 lbs.

The south shore on the north side of the alley was most productive. I was flipping mostly. I saw fwc out there so make sure your up to date on everything

throw big snakes and bluegill swimbaits. i had a tourny there on saturday and had 17 pounds. i also caught a bunch on a crankbait. caught 2 three pounders on one cast. mm41 is way better than holiday.

I once won a tournament there without starting my motor, honestly, caught 19lbs from the ramp to the first weir east throwing a scum frog and Pop R. Not counting putting it on and off the trailer.

The day before I won at the lake with 25lbs, one of the best weekends of fishing I ever had also one of the best years I had.

I always loved the Alley, I had some fantastic days out there.

I was there a few weeks ago and fishing was great. I made three trips out there, bag sizes ranged from 8lbs to 20lbs. More and more people were catching on to the good fishing out there. Night owls has moved their tourny out there due to poor fishing and turnouts at holiday park. Get out soon, over fishing in the area has already begun. They are running the pumps wide open almost everywhere I have been recently, with a few exceptions. It really makes it tough.

Follow up question: can you make your way east past the weirs so that you could get to the Miami Canal if you wanted to?

You could, however once you get there you will have a dam 2 miles to the south. Then you will have a dam 6 miles to the north.

I fished that area yesterday. Can't say that I tore them up although some mudfish have sore jaws. Good numbers of panfish are in the pads so there is life out there.

Yep, I know about those dams. My club tournament meets at the rest stop then you can put in anywhere on the Alley just be back to the weigh in at the rest stop by the allotted time. So the question was more whether to put in at the Miami Canal ramp and go west.

With the amount of water that's there now you could go all the way west til you hit indian country, however if we ever have drought like conditions again and that water drops, and depending on your boat, you will be stuck at those weirs.
