Charging 12V In Paralell

Featured Replies

I have just set up a parelell connection and wonder when charging do I have to charge each battery seperately or can I charge them in parelell also. If charging in paralell - how do you make the connections (+ on one - on the other)?

if they are wired in parallel ( positive to positive, negative to negative) then you can hook up to just one battery as usual. Are the batteries the same age and close to the same condition? If not then one might charge faster than the other. Try it and check on them to make sure one is not boiling because the charger is trying to finish the slower of the two. Ive charged in parallel 100's of times with no issues as long as the batteries are similar. I have also had a older battery boil over because the other battery (newer) was a higher capacity and was taking longer to charge .

If it was me, I'd charge them seperately. I'd get a 2 bank charger and just leave it plugged in when I wasn't fishing.
