Lake St. Claire Trip June 28Th

Featured Replies

Hello everybody! I am from Pennsylvania and we are making a trip to Mitchells bay June 28th for 11 days. VERY excited never fished this lake before. Mainly targeting SM bass. Been reading up on fishing this and found a map. Ive found some spots Id like to fish and will definatly hit Belle river hump, all around Mitchells bay, and "Firecracker".

Going to be throwing tubes and drop shot mostly.

Just looking for what are the best Tubes/ drop shot baits and the best COLORS for this time of year. Any other tips are appreciated. Thanks everybody i'm very excited! --Mike--

For tubes, I've had success with pretty basic clear water colors, like watermelon red and green pumpkin. I also do well on baitfish colors, like smoke purple. I wouldn't be too worried about colors, when you're on the fish out there and find the right presentation, a wide variety of colors could do well.

Drop shot baits I've had success with are mainly 3" senkos and the "shap shape worm" from Yamamoto, in the same colors mentioned with tubes. I also do well with 4" roboworms. Aaron's magic being my favorite. The biggest killer I've used out there is a goby bait made by a local guy. I recommend reaching out to him and ordering a couple bags.

Good luck with your trip hope this helps!

I would reccomend getting a guide for one day. In spite of saying that you will probably do just fine without one but big strange lakes can sometimes be difficult. Unless you have fished one of the great lakes or the Big O you have never been on a lake the size of St. Clair.

I haven't been to St. Clair in a long time but I wouls sure have some Gobi imitators in my box.
