June 2nd is the free fishing day in Virginia when you do not need a license to fish.

I am helping with the City of Richmond's free fishing day on behalf of B.A.S.S. Region 3.

The event is at Shields Lake and there are usually about 100 folks and kids that show up.

The problem we will face is twofold today:

1. There are very few fish in Shields Lake.

2. The storms and cold front of yesterday will shut down whatever fish are in the lake.

But it is off to the event to meet my "yute requirement" of our bass club.

Everyone in Virginia, try to take a kid or friend or family member fishing today and don't worry about the $22 license.
