Which Baitcaster??

Featured Replies

I'm looking to get a new one and I've narrowed it down to these two:

Shimano Curado 201G7

or

Quantum Smoke SL101HPT

any insight here??

Thanks

This new reel question has been a big topic over the last few days. I know Shimano has down graded with the new Curado. I've heard mixed reviews for the Smoke. The Revo STX's are on sale because the new line is coming out, and it seems like every post someone is bringing up Lews.

Yeah now I am looking at the Lews Pro tournament and the Abu Garcia Premier. haha

Go with the Curado.

just a suggestion ------ Lews, both quality reels I would handle em both, if you do I think you'll agree check the specs on both, the drag, the line capacity, the weight , bearing count, then feel the Lews on a rod, I think you'll be impressed with the Lews I know I have been.

I have always been a quantum fan and own several different models in baitcasters and spinning. When the smoke came out I was excited but when I picked one up it was very small in my hand and did not have the feel of other quantums in the past. As far as the lews, I am going to look into them just because of all the buzz lately on here!

Go with the Curado.

Or if you look around, You can still get last years Citica which is around $30 less and is the same reel inside. Good deal for $90 IMHO.

I also like the Lews, Revo's and Chronarch's if you can spend a bit more(sub $200). Or if you have $300 to spend, The Zillions are pretty slick! All depends on what you can afford!

Yeah, I'm going to go by BPS and check them out today.

Yeah I have last years Citica. It's a great reel! I think I'm down to the Revo Premier (good sale $199) and the Lews Pro Tournament ($150).

The Smoke is by far the best casting reel Quantum has ever made in my opinion. I was so imressed with the 100 that I got a 150 and I'm glad I did. I have the 7.3:1 in the 150 size and it is so easy to fish a buzzbait or burn a spinnerbait without really working to do so and it is just plain solid.

If your gonna get a Curado, get the E series, or and E series Citica, or even better an E series Chronarch. Everybody is Lews Lews Lews, just remember, its not the # of bearings, its the placement, and quality. Shimano is a proven product, see you in 20 years when Im still casting my E series.
