Kentucky Lake - July 8-13

Featured Replies

This year my son's Boy Scout summer camp is going to be at Camp Roy C. Manchester on Kentucky Lake, near Aurora (near Jonathan creek I'm told). It'll be the week of 7/18-13 and was looking for your help on:

- typical patterns/locations for this time of the year (I assume summer/deep pattern, but I understand Kentucky lake isn't very deep). Hit the docks nearby?

- anyone familiar with shoreline options in that area that I need to make sure I go to? (Or areas I could reach by canoe)

- recommended baits - anything unique to KL that the locals love but outsiders normally wouldn't try?

Summer time is LEDGE fishin time on KY!!! Normally, that is. This year the lake level is down because of the lack of rain so they aren't generating as much as normal. This has the fish up on top of the ledges in the grass which has been growing well this year. At least the fish I have been catching anyway. You can find fish on ledges too but most of the fish I have caught were shallow in the grass on the main river. Crankbaits, swimbaits, football head jigs work great for ledge fishing. I've been throwing topwater over the grass, swimbaits through it, and flippin it with tx rigs. Hope this helps.
