New Setup

Featured Replies

Im looking to add a new casting setup as I only have one right now. Right now I have a 7 ft medium heavy fast action st croix mojo bass rod and the $99 lews speed spool in a 6.4.1. ratio. I fish alot of soft plastics and top water baits which I feel like this seup covers for the most part. Im needing help decideng what action my next rod should be and the ratio of my reel. I also fish swim baits, rat l traps, jigs, and some crank baits. I have decided the pole im getting will be a veritas and im getting a lews reel to put on it. Im just needing help deciding what will cover other areas that im missing with my current setup.

Thanks,

Shaun

I'm in the exact same situation as you. I have the Veritas 7ft MH fast action that I use for Jigs/Plastics mostly. My next set up is going to be another Veritas but the 7ft winch cranking rod (Med/Moderate Fast) for crankbaits, lipless cranks, and light swimbaits. Haven't decided on a reel speed yet but I think 6.4 will be pretty versatile. I read the powell disiel glass cranking rod is a nice rod also and only 70 bucks.

Dudemanbro has got it. You need a slower action rod for treble hook baits. Moderate action rods are the middle ground.

I would get the Veritas winch model like other have mentions for your treble hook lures, with at least a 6.4 gear ratio reel... You can use your current setup for jigs...
