Fenwick Eagle Gt

I'm new to bass fishing but have been an avid steelhead angler for years.my bass rod arsenal is growing but wanted to ask for the opinion of some of the more experienced bass anglers. I have a 7 foot 10 inch eagle gt casting rod that is rated for 1/4 to 1 ounce with a medium fast tip.can I use this rod as a flipping stick I was thinking if I put some braided line on it would help counter the slower tip action of the rod.any advice or opinion's are greatly appreciated.
