Does anyone else kill them with the beetle bug? It's so small and I catch huge smallies with it all day and they are so cheap. Some times I put a white 2 inch grub on them for more action. I love them anyone else for river smallies ?

Are you referring to the "Beetle Spin"?

Yes

I haven't used them in years. But I do use a "Pond Magic" 1/8 oz. spinnerbait quite a bit on a local river with great success. I may just have to dig some of those beetle spins out of a box and give 'em a whirl again.

I end up catching more bluegill than anything else on them.

I don't like the "clip-on" frame of the beetle spins. As Crestliner, I prefer a crappie sized spinnerbait. They will catch above average sized smallies on occasion.
