So my uncle has this over sized pond there i can fish all three banks the north, west and south banks. I've only been to the east one time with my row boat. The first week or so i went i was cathing bass on a kvd 1.5 and 2.5 crankbait and absolutly smashing them. i went away for vacation came back then it didnt work anymore. ive been trying everything jigs, spiners,popers and rattle traps. I'm not catching the quality of fish i was when i started. easy 3, 4 pounders my buddy got a 9 pounder the fist week we went. Im not sure how to locate the bass i feel like im dong everyhting right but if aybody has any tips that would be great how to find patterens within the a big pond.

One of the main places I fish is a pond which is about 2 acres. It is kinda like what you are saying. For over 1 year, I didnt catch anything, then one day I caught a 2 pounder and it just grew after that. I think you need to find the right lure, most of all. In this pond, early on, I was lucky and found the right lure early on. Nothing compared to it. It was almost every cast, but when I lost the lure, it took a long time to find the right lure again. You need to be specific. You can try the same exact lure, but if it is a different color or something minor like that, they will not even touch it. Then you need to find the right spot. In this pond, they like water 2-5 inches deep on the other bank. Try really deep, on the surface, or along banks.

yeah i was using a 1.5 kvd crank bait sexy shad.. i caught 64 fish the first week and a half i came back then nothing with the same lure.. right now worms are working the best, but im not catching the quality fish i was.. ive been using a torpedo at night along the banks at night and smashing them in the am and late aftenoon nothing. do you now how to find patterns when fishng in a pond like this this one is about 2-3 acres..

I am no expert, but here are my idea's. Look around. Look for fallen tree's, bank's, old fish nests, all can hold fish at certain times. I have seen bass come back to the same small areas they spawned in the year before during the spawn. Then, you may want to try big crankbait's on the nest. During the middle of summer, lot's of fish will take cover in shade or under tree's. Also, use common sense. In the fall or after winter, bass are eating alot, so try casting where you know there are lot's of baitfish, and try using a lure that represents them as much as possible.

Have you put a therometer in the water to obtain its temperature?

If the water is "warm to hot" the fish are holding deep.

Bass will travel in warm water but they also like to hold to underwater structure near deep water.

If you are serious about fishing the pond and learning all about it, consider giving yourself an early Christmas present and purchase the Hummingbird SmartCast mobile unit and map the pond's bottom.

no i have not checked the water temp im a newby for bass fishing withh a newby for taking it seriously but im trying to learn i have a free summer too learn some new things. im deffenitly going to get on of those thanks for the link!!

Ive tried all of that i guess i should just throw some big swim baits out deep and see what i get i also have a rattle trap that gets me some big bites once in awhile
