Fishing Addiction

Featured Replies

If it becomes more important to you than your family or if you cannot control your finances because of it then yes, it is a problem.

i would rather to be addicted to fishing than alcoholism or drugs

Is it real, and can it be a problem?

Yes and yes. That doesn't mean it WILL be, but anything that is overdone has the potential to be a problem.

I'm definitely addicted to fishing and all things fishing im told this all the time by guys in my platoon. BR is bookmarked in my internet thingy, im on BR all the time, I have a huge stack of fishing magazines on my shelf here, I wasn't in Kuwait but 45 minutes and already had a fishing pole and tackle i bought off the guys we were replacing, I take notes pretty much wrote a book so far as i read how toos and magazines or posts basicly anything of what works under what conditions ect. I write it down then write what spots back home meet that criteria iv got it all broke down. When im home I fish everyday the only time I don't is when the ice is to thick to crash a lure threw and to thin to walk and fish on. When my so was born well my wife stayed in the hospital and I went home at night id stop by the river and fish.

as much as I love fishing my family still comes first and foremost I don't get new rods or lures unless all bills are paid and food is on the table. I took my son and wife with me when ever they would ask or I would ask my 3 year old if I could go by my self. I only ever went for an hour or two usually so not to make wifey mad if the kids were miss behaving.

Im more then addicted to fishing but like telmomarques said id rather be addicted to fishing then booze or drugs and would rather explain to the wife i was late because I was out fishing and stroll in smelling like fish then come in smelling like a bar or strip club as my brother in law likes to put it to her if she says I was gone to long when we go on our guy trips.

I see no problem in it though because it doesn't get in the way of family if anything makes it stronger because my wife loves to fish and my oldest Noah who just turned 3 is more obsessed then I am my youngest well iv been gone for 7 out of the 11months hes been alive but im sure the influence will spill over and he will love it too. In fact according to the wife my oldest asks to watch the episodes of city limits I have on dvr and the bass pros lol.
