Galss beads: Faceted or smooth?

Featured Replies

Hey everyone,

I just wanted to gather some opinions on the differences between the red glass faceted beads and the smooth red ones. Is there any difference in the way they fish? anyone notice if one type gets more bites?  I would think that the faceted ones refract more light but only at certain angles?

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Victor

I don't think it matters if it is smooth or faceted. I always use clear beads when I do use them and its very seldom.

I use both,  not really any personal preference,  which ever one my fingers touch first.   ;D

I use the smooth ones for one reason only.  It's easier to see if your smooth bead has a crack or is chipped.  Cause if it's chipped, it'll cut your line. :)

I never use glass beads, for the reason Bluecraw mentioned. I use plastic beads on my T-rigs, to protect the knot. I usually pick one that most closely matches the color of the bait. I have tried contrasting colors and have noticed no difference, so I suspect that the diference between smooth or facets is moot.

Here's a tip. Don't buy your beads in a tackle shop. Go to Wally world and look in the sewing/arts & crafts section. You can get a couple of hundred for what a dozen will cost in the fishing section.

Cheers,
