Featured Replies

i fished topwater many times at sun up and caught 2 one morning and none ever again. i tried spooks, buzzbaits, and pop r. i caught a 4 pounder 2 days ago on a baby brush hog watermelon red. im just looking to catch more fish because i catch one every few days or so. pond is about a mile long and 50 yards wide and has 3 fountains in middle and i usually fish drop off with soft plastics. lots of bream, shad, and baby bass. I was thinking about trying a zoom fluke? any tips or help would be appreciated.

What kind of plastics do you use? Just reading your post Flukes would be good to try, or worms like a zoom trick worm or senko. try them in a shad or baitfish color, try them weightless, texas or carolina. see what works. IMO you will catch fish on the trick worm weightless and bring it in really really slow, they might not be the biggest in the pond but you will get a few atleast. I always do, I use it as my last resort when I just want to catch a fish.

i use texas rigged zoom u tail worms, baby brush hogs, and ribbontail worms all in watermelon red. the 4 pounder in my profile picture was caught on a baby brush hog. i have caught about 15 bass total since i started fishing it 2 weeks ago.

use spinnerbaits and crankbiats to find weededges , if those don't work try using a weightless and weedless trick worm/senko/ favorite slow falling plastics on top of the submerged weeds.

My only advice would be to expand your color options. Watermelon red is good but there are ALOT of other fish producing colors that you are missing out on.

Try a swimjig that matches the hatch using a 4 inch single tail grub trailer, just let fall and then yank it up let it fall like a dying or struggling baitfish even though it is a total of around 5 inches long you catch everything from Dinks to hogs. I use almost exclusively swim jigs in ponds now I would recommend the north star flip n swim, great colors for matching forage and a stout hook

try a drop shot. Use a 4" bait. The small zoom flukes and 4" roboworms work well. I can always catch a fish with a drop shot. Havent managed to get anything big but it always produces.
