Abu Garcia 2005 Lp Brake System

Featured Replies

I've searched the forums for this answer. And I've googled and youtubed the question about every way I can think of. I'm a spin cast fan but want to learn baitcasters. One I've got is the Abu Garcia 2005lp. I've pretty much set up the tension side of the unit with the knob and the slow drop of a lure to the floor. What I can't figure out is the brake system. I bought this reel used so there is no manual and obviously it's out of production so the company has been no help.

When I remove the side plate, am I looking at a magnetic or a centrifuge system? In either case what adjustment can/should be made to tune it? Any help would be appreciated.

Here's the schematic.

Looks to be centrifical. I don't own one, But I guess it would be similar to other centrifical systems. The brake pads should snap up on the post they ride on. Similar to the how to video pinned at the top of this forum.
