What Would You Use This For?

Question...

My neighbor gave me a Shakespeare Sigma Titanium baitcasting rod he's never used. [it still has the plastic covering on the cork]

Model STCA 761 ML...7' 6" Med Lt action, 8 -17 lb, 96% grafite.

Even tho its a med lt and bends just short of 1/2 way down the rod, it still has a fairly stout butt secion which is thicker than my 7' Compre. With the line rating up to 17 lbs I'm thinking it would make a good Sq bill, med diving crank rod, but what do you guy's think?

If your going to use it with treble hook baits, and a sturdy fluoro/hybrid line around 17#, it will be good so you dont yank the hooks out of the fishes mouth with the hookset. You shoud be OK.
