How Would You Fish This Dam?

Featured Replies

Ok so it's a dam on a friend's farm with a very healthy bass population allong with carp and barbel. The dam is just a bit deeper than 6m at it's deepest but drops almost instantly from the bank to about 3m. Stained water with what I would estimate about 40cm visibility. The inlet is deep as well with a few overhanging and sunken trees but otherwise there is no real structure visible appart from one or two patches of vegitation. please let me know how you would fish this water because it's nice and the bass there are in winter like how i would expect them to be in summer and they fight like champions icon_smile.gif like 90% of the shore is just sand with no plants or anything. much apreciated Before what I did was I was fishing dark senko baits as well as junebug trick worms and flukes at the inlet from a boat. Throwing the senkos and trick worms weightless at wooden structure in the water, particularly trying for spots where i can get the fish out quick in case it tries to tangle around a branch or something, and giving it time to sink to the bottom where i would start with a slow steady retrieve with one or two twitches here and there then cast out into the slightly more open water on the other side of the boat with the fluke. The problem is that this area is small and I need tips on how to fish the rest of it... at one point I tried my Rapala DT10 in baby bass and blue gill from the boat in the middle of the dam and we managed some dinky bass like this. icon_smile.gif
