Also which rod would be best for those techniuqes. I figured I would get the 7'0" Med Heavy, Fast action. Thank you.

    If that is the outfit you really want, I would get the 6.4:1 ratio. I find that ratio is just right especially if this reel is going to be a multi- use reel. As far as the rod, I have the exact rod and I really enjoy it.
