Noob here wanting to ask a question about which depth finder to purchase. I have a 16ft Lund that I wanted to install a depth finder on. Planned on buying a Humminbird 597ci HD di but have been investigating other HB models and became interested in the 788ci hd di. I can get the 788 for $650 and the 597 for $580. Is the 788 worth the extra $70?

Oh, another reason I was thinking about the 788 is that I also wanted to eventually get an Terrova ipilot trolling motor. The new ipilot seems interesting since you can set waypoints on the HB and iPilot will take you there. Unfortunately the waypoint feature won't work with a 597

Well if using the 788 with your I pilot is something you want to do then it sounds like you would be better off spending the extra money.
