Thinking about buying one from someone who says its pretty smooth. Any feedback on the generation 1s? Is it worth $100?

I never used a 1st Gen, I have 2nd Gen. But $100?? Gen 3 are coming out this fall. TW have Revo S's 2nd Gen for $99. I do not think its worth the $100 IMO.

Yeah I love my Revo sx its a 2nd ge but 100 for a 1st gen your getting ripped off

I bought an SX this winter, and had the side plate come off (and into the lake) after 2 months. In talking to rep, he said the reel had a design problem, but has now been corrected. They replaced with next gen (I assume gen2 as you refer to it). Love the reel, no problems with gen2.

Not worth $100 as others have said but if you get it cheaper just keep an eye on the side plate screw.
