Mann's Stone Jig-Mike's Special?

Featured Replies

The color that appears for me after clicking that link is black/blue. I've used several of the stone jigs in various colors and I usually pair them with a paca craw. Black/blue I use a matching craw or the okeechobee craw... imitating a crawfish obviously.

I read Mike's book, Fishing on the Edge, and he has won a lot of money on that jig. I don't know what he used as a trailer but he seemed to rely on it quite a bit.

Actually not a bad question - I have been working on this for a couple of years now - the "Mike's Special" color is kind of a robin's egg blue - and I have found crawdad pinchers to be this color in this area - but there aren't any trailers that match.  I have tried taking a white trailer and dying it blue and this is about the closest I have come so far.  Other than that, I have tried using green pumpkin and some sort of rootbeer to try to imitate craws.  I pretty good jig and I think if the trailers ever do catch up with this color it will be awsome.

Thanks for the info! I was actually thinking of using this color for a baitfish imitator, and throwing a smoke single tail grub on the back, I want to learn how to skip and pitch skip with casting gear, I have read that these jigs are perfect for that.  I have just recently ordered two of these jigs, one in the Mike's Special color and the other in Black and Blue.
