Tackle storage

Featured Replies

Today I was at Walmart today and they had a bunch of little Plano boxes for like 1 or 2 bucks a piece. They had a mix of two-siders and one siders. Since I usually bank fish, I was thinking of getting five or six of them. One for terminal tackle, jigs, etc. and a little soft plastics bag. I know this would significantly reduce the weight of my pack, but I feel like it would limit what I could use for that day. BTW I used to use a hard tackle box full of all the stuff I was going to use for the day, but I'm going to switch to just my drawstring bag. What do you use to transport your tackle when bank fishing?

I simplify my tackle as much as possible. I take some 1/0 EWG hooks, and use worms, tubes, and slug-go's on them. Add a small split shot to get deeper or retrieve faster. All three lures on the same hook. I also bring some 1/8th oz black jigheads and put a smoke or pumpkinseed grub on it.

All of this will fit in a small box and will cover many situations.

I started off carrying just one of the little Plano 3449 (6.5x4") 5-compartment boxes in my back pocket. Then, I kept thinking of additional gear to carry. Where I'm at right now is the fanny pack in the photo. Two Plano 3500s (9x5"), one of the 3449 boxes, digital camera, stringer, electronic scale, tape measure, flashlight, etc. A couple bags of soft plastics will fit in the outside pocket of the pack.

Somewhere in-between is where I should probably be for bank-walking!

What the heck, that aint no fanny pack.  Thats more like a man purse.  I've never seen one that big before...

Yep - it's pretty big. I have 4 different size fanny packs and this is the biggest one. My wife keeps finding these things in the thrift store for a buck each ;D

At that price, who can blame her.   Hell, send me a couple ;)

I just use a backpack and fill it with the planos that have the lures I want to used for that particular outing.
