Skinny Dipper / Little Dipper Rigging

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

I was looking for some advice on how you guys like to rig the skinny dipper and the little dipper. I nailed a 7-8 lber yesterday using the skinny dipper as a trailer on my chatterbait but want to throw it and the smaller one in a tournament in Sept.

Lake Mead is super clear and has a good mix of largemouth and smallmouth. There are stick ups and deep grass lines with a lot of rocks. Are you guys throwing them with Owner twist lock belly weight hooks? Texas rigged with a small bullet weight pegged to the nose? Or fishing it with a jighead? Thanks guys. Lime Ice looks a killer smallmouth color.

I have fished it weightless in Lake Okeechobee before, but would definitely try out the screw lok kill weighted hooks, and also the jig head as you mentioned.

I fish mine on a owner twist lock hook with a 1/8 oz tungsten pegged

I throw the skinny dipper as the trailer on 1/4 oz swim jigs. I haven't fished it on its own, or the little dipper.

I fish the skinny dipper either weightless or with a 1/8 oz and I buzz it or swim it normally around grass, I use the little dipper as a swim jig trailer and on buzz baits and chatter baits.

with the skinny dipper I use a EWG Trokar 5/0

Weightless I use a Superline EWG Trokar 4/0 over shallow grass. If fishing deeper points I like a keel weighted 1/8 oz Mustad Ultra Point screw lock.
