Flutter Spoons

Featured Replies

Well talked to the girl into getting me a couple of Spaits' Spoons for Valentines this year. Never really fished flutter spoons and I've done some research and there's lots of different ides on how to rig them. What I'm looking for are rod and line choices, what size trebles and feathered or not. Also, do you tie straight to a split ring or do you use a swivel.

I use a medium heavy 7' 6" flipping stick and 20# fluorocarbon line. The hook I use is a size 4 to 1/0 feathered treble depending on the body of water.

I tie to a split ring--no swivel.

Good stuff, I was thinking of going with fluoro myself. On TW, they have a video with Randy Macabee and he is pushing an 8' rod with braid and a swivel. Then, many other pros are saying use a 7' mh rod with 17-20lb fluoro tied direct to split ring.
