Shimano Corsair 300 Adjustments

Featured Replies

Ok, fishing friends, I just bought a Shimano Corsair 300 (not the 300a) new in box at this guy’s yard sale. I have been looking for a fresh water reel that can handle salmon, steel head, pike. The box list up to 20 lbs line weight and I’ve already put it on my son’s rod. The issue is it didn’t have any instructions about adjustments and when my son cast it for the first time it birds nested up. He wants to take the mono line off and put on some 30 lb braided test.

  1. Will this reel handle braided
  2. Anyone know how to make adjustments on this reel?

I did a quick search, but found nothing on the Corsair 300.

Any help or insight would be appreciated, thanks!
