Im new to this bass fishing thing. i grew up fishing but never really thought about it a a hobbie till i just started fishing randomly alot but now i love it! I just need help with learning which lures are best. I fish in the Erie canal and have caught bass but nothing big need help in reeling in that big one! Need some tips for a beginner bass fisherman.

I'm in Rochester too and have spent countless hours fishing the canal, but not recently.

Marty's right...get some knowledge behind you and then just go fishing. We can all give you opinions on what to throw and where but in your first year...get comfortable with the hobby..start learning and practicing...see what styles that you like. There is a big difference between throwing a crankbait all day and bouncing a worm. Remember to have fun doing it.
